================
In the distant future, there are vampires and werewolves...and other creatures from nightmares. The number of vampires has greatly dropped due to one man, D. D is a danpiel; half-vampire and half-human. He's the very best of the Vampire Hunters. Being a Hunter is the only way D can make a living. People tend to hate danpiels, fearing that they might turn on 'em and suck thier blood. D travels from town to town, looking for work. D isn't alone on his travels. Left Hand was aquired from an old hag in a far-off country. Left Hand is a tool and a chatterbox. Left Hand can suck up spells (or eat dirt if D is in dire straights) and spirits of the dead. D is not that talkative, but Left Hand is.
There's something different happening with vampires. Vampires are able to open thier mouths wide to bite the necks of humans. However, some vampire don't suck blood of humans; they simply devour them. Because the vampire is undead, the victim that's swallowed isn't digested. The victims are left to struggle forever in the bellies of vampires until the day they die. The vampires that eat people call themsleves, "The Eaters"
D hasn't met with a Eater yet...but soon he'll meet one.

Port Chester
12:20 AM
============================
The small city of Port Chester is on the coast of the ocean. Waves lap on the beach, as they have done for thousands of years. A lone lighthouse on a small island near the city has been abandoned for 40 years. Nobody is said to live there. However, the lighthouse still has its light on night after night. As far as anyone can tell, the light on the lighthouse is on automatic, because the light comes on as soon as the sun goes down (or when it gets cloudly). Stories say that a vampire lives in the lighthouse.
Thomas Wesson didn't believe that there was a vampire living in the lighthouse. Didn't vampires have a fear of running water? How could a vampire live within a lighthouse? No, no. It was far more likely that a vampire would live in the run-old mansion on the edge of town.
The mansion was at least a century old. It was built by the town's founder, Chester Myer. The mansion had five stories and easily the grandest building around for miles and miles. It's filled with secret doors and ghosts...or so the stories say. The Myer Mansion--as it was called--was off-limits. So, naturally, the mansion was visited and re-visited by a group of kids that said they weren't afraid of any vampire. Every Halloween, the group of kids would dare a new kid in town to spend a night at the Myer Mansion. And Thomas Wesson was the new kid in town.
