Running toward the gigantic beauty, Jean feels this strange sensation: the nearer he gets to the girl, the clearer her true size gets. And the girl´s size really is intimidating, she´s a titanic goddess, that much is clear as Jean stops running is now standing only a few meters away from her. Yes, she is a goddess. But he is convinced that she is a gentle goddess, he honestly can´t believe that such a girl could be a mean person. Just looking into her face tells him everything about her personality. When he saw her earlier in the streets of Paris and noticed that she was smiling, he knew immediately that she must be a gentle and kind person, and seeing her being sad now, he guesses that she might also be a vulnerable girl as well. But maybe he can cheer her up. That would be great, as Jean could possibly make friends with her that way. Although there still is a problem, and it´s a significant problem, by the way. How is Jean supposed to make the giantess notice him? Trying to yell at her and hoping that she´ll be able to hear him despite the laws of physics (according to these laws, it should be impossible for the girl to hear him, but Jean isn´t so sure about science anymore, especially after having had this feeling in his heart that lead him here)? Or should he be a daring man and climb up the girls body, up to her face or up to her ear? That would be suicide, Jean knows that. He could never make it up her body, the way up there is just too long, and he isn´t exactly a tireless man. Damn it...he should have taken the aircraft he and his uncle have developed. He could have shrunken it as well, and maybe he could have made it up to the girl´s face with it - in case that thing really is able to fly, Jean and his uncle haven´t tested it yet.
But all of Jean´s attempts to come up with a good plan become futile, in a positive way. After having been deep in his thoughts for a few moments, he looks up again at the girl, and what he sees there is shocking and wonderful at the same time. The girl who is still sitting on the chair is looking down at him, with a confused expression in her face, which isn´t exactly a surprise. 1/2 inch tall persons are most likely rarely seen in the world, even in 1900 a.d. ...
Jean is confused as well. The girl having spotted him provides him with a drastic turn of events and a completely new situation. According to the girl´s surprised facial expression, she seems to be aware that he is not some bug, she must have been able to notice his human shape. That´s good, she will certainly not hurt him that way, seeing that he is a human. A 1/2 inch tall human, but still a human. But what to do? He must show her somehow that he is not afraid of her despite her scary size. And Jean chooses the most simple idea he could come up with in that moment: he decides to wave at the girl, smiling. That seems incredibly stupid, but it still is a nice gesture. And he tries to yell at her.
"H-Hello up there!"
Having just yelled this words at the gorgeous giantess and still waving at her (he feels stupid because of that, but what else should he do right now?), his heart is beating so fast that it is unbearable, and his body heat is increasing immensely, but at least that´s explainable with science, Jean thinks. Or at least partially explainable. Who can really explain true love, especially under these extremely weird circumstances?
Anyway, these 3 words Jean just yelled at the girl are the key to his success. Because the sad expression on the girl´s face is fading away, changing into a warm and cute smile. Did she really hear him up there? Jean is admittedly a bit confused as the girl is slowly getting up from her chair, towering over Jean in all her glory, making Jean realize how scarily huge she is, but at the same time how incredibly beautiful she really is. Looking down at Jean, the girl seems to be really happy as she smiles down at him.
"Hello down there!" she says, obviously referring to Jean´s words before. So it is true: the girl really was able to hear him! That´s great! And sad at the same time, since the laws of physics have to be rewritten as they obviously were completely wrong...that´s especially sad for an inventor like Jean, but there are more important things right now.
The girl carefully kneels down, being only a few meters away from Jean (meters for Jean´s circumstances, in reality only centimeters).
"You...you were able to hear me?!"
Jean really is perplexed, but the girl stays calm, which is a huge surprise. She obviously doesn´t care that much about his size. She simply nods at Jean´s question as she lowers her hand, bringing it near Jean. Her open palm is now directly next to him, and Jean knows what this means: she wants him to get onto her palm, so she can take a closer look at him or just bring him nearer to her face. And there´s no reason for Jean not to do so, since absolutely and completely trusts the girl. Again, love seems to twist his mind, since a person who firmly believes (or believed) in rationalism would never trust a giantess of that size he only met before. But Jean knows that she won´t hurt him, she wouldn´t even think of that. He simply knows that she is a kind and adorable person. So he decides to jump onto her palm, and moments later, he finds himself on the dark skin of her palm, being lifted up toward the girl´s face. Even if it´s utterly impossible, his heart beat is still getting faster with every second, the nearer he gets the giantess´ face. The girl stops lifting her hand as it is now directly in front of her face. Jean stares in awe at this gorgeous face, and somehow, he extremely likes her dark skin. He still thinks that she must be Indian or Pakistani, maybe even an Native American from Northern or Southern America or Africa, but since her skin is not black, he doubts that.
"Who are you?" the girl asks with a calm and comforting voice.
"I...I...I´m Jean..." he barely utters these words, still being excited to meet the girl he fell in love with from face to face.
"P--pleased to meet you!" That´s all he can say for now. Jean´s excitement and humbleness cause the girl to giggle.
"Nice to meet you, Jean. My name is Nadia."
"Nadia...that´s...that´s such a wonderful name!"
"Thank you!"
Nadia pauses, looking at Jean curiously.
"You don´t seem to be afraid of me."
"Of course not! You´re...you´re a gentle person! And a beautiful one as well!"
"Thanks for the beautiful! But how do you know I´m gentle?"
"Well, I can see it in your face, in your whole body. You must be a kind person!".
"...Thank you, Jean. But tell me, why are you so...tiny?"
"Well, because I´m an inventor! And I also invented a shrink-ray gun!"
"A shrink-ray gun? You mean...you shrank yourself down to size?"
"Yes!"
"But why?"
"It´s a bit embarrassing...it has something to do with you..."
"With me?"
"Yes...I just saw you earlier in the streets of Paris, and I...I wanted to meet you! So I followed you, but as you went into the circus, they wouldn´t let me eneter..."
"...so you used the shrink-ray to get in there without anyone noticing."
"Yes."
Nadia seems to be sharp as well, Jean realizes that he won´t be able to fool her about his feelings.
"Why did you want to meet me?"
"Because...because the moment I saw you, I..."
"...It´s okay, Jean. You don´t have to answer. You seem to be really excited."
"Nadia...I´m sorry if I have disturbed you."
"Don´t worry. I...I´m glad you´re here. Especially since you´re such a nice boy."
"Really?!"
"Yes. I really like you; you´re a kind person. And...I´m thankful that you´re here. It cheers me up a little..."
Poor Nadia...Jean would really like to know what´s bothering this wonderful girl.
But all of Jean´s attempts to come up with a good plan become futile, in a positive way.
