Whenever Keiichi was in public with Belldandy, Urd and Skuld, he noticed the three goddesses attracted a lot of attention. Boys would gawk at the busty Urd and the cute Belldandy. Even Skuld had her admirers. Some people even got to their hands and knees if one of the three goddesses were near them. When Keiichi told this to Urd one day, after someone had bowed down as Urd was passing, she said that it was normal.
"What do you mean, normal?" asked Keiichi.
"It's normal behavior for mortals" said Urd. "when I'm in the pressence of a mortal, or when Belldandy and Skuld are in the pressence of a mortal, they bow down to us"
"You make them bow down?" asked Keiichi. This caused Urd to laugh.
"Everybody doesn't bow down to us" said Urd, pointing to a group of men that was looking right at her. The men kept looking at Urd and Keiichi...and they weren't bowing.
"It's called 'free will'" said Urd. "Father gave all of you mortals free will. We don't force them to bow and pray to us, they make that decision on thier own"
Keiichi knew Urd was correct. Only a few people bowed to any of the three goddesses.
"So..." started Keiichi.
"What makes mortals decide to bow down to us?" asked Urd, guessing what Keiichi was going to say. Keiichi hated that aspect of living with goddesses; you can't keep secrets or even finish a sentence.
"Yeah" said Keiichi, rather stiffly.
Urd and Keiichi had gone out to do shopping for food. Now, Keiichi and Urd was carrying two bags of groceries each. Urd stopped walking and looked at Keiichi. "It's our looks that do it"
Ever since Keiichi made that fateful phone call to Heaven and made Belldandy come down, Keiichi couldn't look at Belldandy. Keiichi could see Belldandy's face and everything, but he couldn't long endure the eyes of Belldandy looking at him. He felt like he was on display somewhere whenever Belldandy looked at him...at least, for the first night. He felt ashamed to look at Belldandy in the face for the rest of that night. But, when the next day came, Keiichi could look Belldandy in the face without feeling like he was on display. Today, whenever one of the three goddesses looked at him directly in the eyes, Keiichi still felt like he was on display.
Urd smirked. "That's what makes mortals bow down to us" She must've read my mind, Keiichi thought.
"How do you mean?" asked Keiichi.
"Ever heard of Adam and Eve?" asked Urd. "and the Orginal Sin?"
"Yeah.." said Keiichi.
"Well, Father made you feel incredibly guilty just because Adam and Eve ate that apple" said Urd. "that's why mortals tend to bow down to us. To avoid looking at us in the eyes"
"Why doesn't it effect everyone?" asked Keiichi.
"It's all because of free will, like I said" said Urd. "it's the mortal's choice to bow down to any of us"
"You can't mess up with free will?" asked Keiichi.
"Oh, yes we can" said Urd darkly. "but Father has forbidden us to mess with free will"
Urd and Keiichi made it to the shrine when the ground started to shake. Keiichi and Urd had to hold each other to keep them from falling. Then, Keiichi saw something that made him yell. It was a giant Mara, looking down at them!
"I finally came up with a plan to get rid of you goddesses" sneered Mara. Mara was 100 feet tall, or so it looked.
