Commanders of Ctarl-Ctarl ships usually eats with the rest of the crew. It wasn't a real big deal, but it was expected that the commander would eat with the crew. Ever since Aisha became the new commander, she would eat alone in her quarters with Jim. She did this to avoid the appearance of her and Jim were friends, rather than slave and master. Aisha liked to boss Jim around in public, but it wasn't any fun when they weren't on the bridge. Jim had gotten used to calling Aisha his mistress...or, "the commander". But Jim did slip a few times, calling Aisha by her first name...luckily he was out of earshot of any other Ctarl-Ctarl. If it was revealed that Jim and Aisha were friends, Aisha would be looked down upon and lose all the respect she had with the crew. That's why Aisha ordered a meal for Jim and for herself. Aisha ordered three Terrans, which shocked Jim. Aisha could scarf down three Terrans easily and still have room for more. However, she ordered three overweight Terrans today. Jim's meal would be a cooked steak with mash patatoes. Ctarl-Ctarl ships carried food for any Terrans onboard so they would get fatter.
"Any news from Sentiel III?" asked Jim, after Aisha had ordered her meal.
"No" said Aisha. "I can't get any news from there..looks like it's top secret"
Just then, the door to the office opened and Paige walked in, carrying Jim's food.
"Don't you knock first before entering a room?" asked Aisha dryly at Paige.
"Okay, okay...you don't have to nag me" said Paige, walking towards Jim.
"Who's the commander?" asked Aisha. "I can nag anyone I want. Where's Gina? Doesn't she usually bring meals to my slave?"
Aisha never mentioned Jim by name...she always called him "my slave" or simply "slave" because that's the way it was on Ctarl-Ctarl ships. Slaves were never mentioned by name (at least, not in public) and Aisha was good at not mentioning Jim's name.
"Gina's got a stomachache" said Paige, setting the plate down in front of Jim. "she ate someone that didn't argee with her later on"
"That's a poor excuse" sneered Aisha. "and where's my meal?"
"Jodor is bringing your meals," said Paige.
"Jodor?" asked Aisha blankly.
"Jodor Bloodclaw" said Paige. "he just joined up a few weeks before you were the commander"
"Whatever" said Aisha. "Care to join us for lunch?"
There was a knock on the door and Jodor Bloodvlaw walked in, followed by heavyset Terrans. Jodor was two feet taller than anyone else in the room. Jim stared...he hadn't seen a Ctaarl-Ctarl that tall before. He avoided Jodor's glance at him.
