"Okay, Daddy-dolly! I can eat you again later." She'd say with innocent cheer. Steve really hoped Angela would get through to her, since it seemed she wasn't listening to him for now. Once he had cleaned himself off, Jenny picked him up and ran over to the master bedroom. When she knocked, Angela answered in her bathrobe.
"What is it, Jenny? It's not a school day, so why are you up so early?" Steve's wife said as she rubbed sleep from her eyes.
"Daddy-dolly wanted to rest after the long day he had, so he wanted to go to you. Are you going to eat him and have him rest inside you?" Jenny spoke up with childish curiosity. What she said immediately wiped the sleep from Angela's face as she had a partially shocked expression.
"Eat him? Why would I do that? Have you been hearing stories from your Aunt Tulip again?" Steve could see the growing sense of dread she had for the answer.
"Well, Daddy-dolly did mention that Aunt Tulip did that when he was younger. He and Jet taste great! Thanks for saying I could eat them again!" Jenny cheered happily. The dread and shock on Angela's face told the whole story as she made the proper connections.
"Honey," Angela started as she gently took Steve from their daughter's hands. "I want you to listen to me. I didn't say you could eat your father and brother. I had thought you had wanted to have more of that pizza we had the other day."
"Well, that was good too, but I think Jet and Daddy-dolly taste even better!" And her mother's other words went in one ear and out the other.
"Jenny, listen to me. You are not to eat your brother and father. Not even when you're older. Do you understand, young lady?"
"Okay, mommy. Can I go play now?" Steve couldn't tell if she actually paid attention, but he was sure she wouldn't listen to him after having eaten him now.
"You may, but if I catch you doing anything like what Aunt Tulip did to your father, you'll be grounded!" Angela declared in her best "angry parent" tone.
Jenny frowned at the warning before she ran off. After taking a deep breath, Angela took Steve into their shared room to learn of his ordeals and do some private things to please him to make up for her blunder.
"What is it, Jenny? It's not a school day, so why are you up so early?" Steve's wife said as she rubbed sleep from her eyes.
