"You look troubled, Yayoi-chan."
"I'm... hmm..." Yayoi was deep in thought, looking over some notes she'd been taking.
"Do you have another case for us to investigate, Yayoi? I hope it isn't as scary as that cursed house, and those awful giant babies..."
Yayoi couldn't blame Eiko for being put off by that, she'd come frighteningly close to death in there last ghost hunt. While Eiko had survived, there had been a point where her belly had swelled up like a big, round balloon! Thankfully the curse had been broken before the angels could be birthed, and even before Eiko was in anything more than minor discomfort.
But, well... Yayoi was pretty sure that Eiko wouldn't like this new haunting she was investigating.
"I've been taking notes on a certain hospital a few cities over. It's been closed down for almost twenty years, but... it is clearly haunted. More than that... there have been almost twenty deaths in the last three months because of it! The police of the city are covering up the incidences to avoid causing a city-wide panic, but if the curse or haunting isn't broken soon, who knows how many more could die?"
"That's terrible! We'd better get over there right away!"
Yayoi frowned.
"You say that now, but... Well, I'll be honest with you. If you want to sit this ghost hunt out, I won't blame you."
"What?! Why would I do that?! I thought you trusted me, Yayoi!" Eiko pouted, crossing her arms under her chest- which she'd happily noted had been about a cup size bigger ever since the events of the Annunciation House had ended. At least some good had come out of it...
"Well... after you hear how the deaths occurred, and to whom they occurred to, I think you'll be less enthusiastic. The hospital was apparently under investigation for illegal business dealings back when it was still operational, and many women went there for cheap abortions, even after other clinics or hospitals told them it was too late in the pregnancy to have an abortion. I have reason to believe that the haunting is caused by the lingering grudge of the dead fetuses- all of the 18 current fatalities have been women between the ages of 18 and 35, and as for the cause of death... it was the same for every one of them. They exploded."
"E-exploded?" Eiko's face paled in horror.
"Yes. Eyewitness accounts- that is, the eyewitnesses that the police have been keeping quiet- all attest that each woman reportedly had their bellies expand and explode. Unlike the Annunciation House, however, things differ after that detail."
"Aww... not another cursed baby..." Eiko whimpered, feeling her heart sink.
"Every single woman who died expanded at a different rate, and grew to a different size. According to eyewitness reports, the smallest any of the victims were when her belly burst, she looked no larger than a woman at full-term with a single, normal-sized baby. While on the other hand, the largest any of the victims got was... Yayoi actually paused here, rereading her notes.
When she spoke again, her normally stoic voice had a tinge of disbelief to it.
"A 28-year old woman was documented by witnesses that her belly expanded to such a large size that she couldn't even stand up. Her belly was apparently so massive that it pinned her to the ground, and she was forced stay like that. completely helpless, for almost an hour before she finally exploded."
Eiko squeaked in horror. Just how big had that poor woman been before she'd finally popped?
"Not only that, but like I said, the rate at which the bellies of the victims expanded and exploded varies. The shortest recorded time for one of the victims to expand and explode lasted just under an hour, while the longest time it took for one of the women to expand before finally exploding was about a full week. So... given that you suffered back at the Annunciation House, it's okay if you want to sit this one out." Yayoi said, closing the notebook she'd been studying.
The frightened Eiko let out a shaky sigh. It was true, she was afraid! But... she wouldn't forgive herself if she just let Yayoi go off into danger! This sounded even more dangerous than with the angel's curse!
"No! I'll go with you! I'll... I'll be ready for anything!"
"Thank you, Eiko. I'm glad. But just let me know if you change your mind before tomorrow. I'll set off tomorrow, and I don't think we'll have the option to turn back once we're investigating the abandoned hospital."
Yayoi and Eiko would head out first thing the next morning! This was a dangerous case, and there had already been too many fatalities! Eiko and Yayoi knew they both had to work hard to prevent anymore casualties from the curse.
Next morning, they'd set out, and attempt to solve the haunting that would be known as Revenge of the Unwanted!
What Yayoi didn't know was that this curse didn't work the same as the angel's curse that had been present at the Annunciation House. Those giant, deformed ghost babies had been looking for their 'mama' to be born, but... the curse formed from the lingering grudge of the aborted unborn was different! These wrathful unborn weren't looking for a mother to give birth to them- no, all they wanted was to take revenge and kill as many young women as possible!
-----------
1) The next morning, Eiko drives herself and Yayoi to the city where the abandoned hospital is. The ghost hunt begins!
2) The same as option 2, but Keitarou goes with them!
3) The same as option 1, but Eiko and Yayoi find another girl at the hospital? Who is it? Another investigator? A police officer? Or... an unlucky victim already claimed by the curse?
