Hizuro Minakata had saved Ajiro Shinpei from shadow Mio had relocated his dislocated arm. Using her jacket as a support for his dislocated arm, Shinpei realizes that she can fight the shadows as she teaches him their weakness though unaware to Shinpei that Hizuru can absorb that shadows just by touching them though she has yet to reveal this to Shinpei who rushes to the shrine to save his friends. Though she dislikes using this ability, she leaves it to her brother Ryunnosuke to use it (much like leaving him to kill the shadows).
Shinpei and Hizuru are wounded when Shinpei asks Ryunnosuke to shoot him so he can travel back in time as the shadow Shide plans to absorb them. With that she gives a message to him to state his name when he sees her again. Then she shoots him in the head thus causing the reset to occur in which Shinpei gets off the boat. Hizuru realizes that one of the men was a shadow but pretends to ignore him.
Hizuru is at Ushio's funeral as she realizes that the Kobayakawa family are all shadows and reports this to Ginjiro Nezu. She also finds out that there are two Alain Kofunes at the funeral as she knows one of them is a shadow. As the real Alain Kofune enters a stall, she follows him and places a out of order sign in front of his stall quietly. Hizuru awaits in the second stall with a hammer so she could attack the shadow Alain. Just as the shadow Alain enters and sees the out of order sign, he approaches the second stall and opens to see Hizuru with a hammer as she smashes the floor.
