Hizuru attended Ushio's funeral at the crematorium as she carried her suitcase with her to the venue. Luckily, no one noticed her belly. There she meets Masahito Karikiri,who recognizes her the remembers why she couldn't stand him.She meets Alain Kofune and recalls how she used to spend time in the Kofune restaurant. She overhears Alain that Shinpei and Mio will be late and questions Alain about Shinpei. Realizing its Shinpei Ajiro, she decides to leave and avoid meeting him for now. Alain follows her and tells her that Ushio had marks on her neck similar to strangling and feels her death sounds similar to Ryunosuke Nogumo's. Hizuru returns to check the mark on Ushio's neck.
She meets up with Alain and asks. "Did Ushio meet a doppelganger?"
Alain shakes his head and answers, "I don't know."
A bit suspicious, she decides to leave the venue only to run into Asako, an old friend of Hiruzu, recognizes her.
Asako explains, "Ushio saved my daughter Shiori from drowning."
Hizuru notices that Asako's shadow is avoiding her foot and that the whole Kobayakawa family are shadows.
In a ridge, looking above the crematorium, Hizuru meets up with Ginjiro.
"I think the entire Kobayakawas are shadows." Hizuru explained.
"Are you sure?" A surprised Ginjiro asked. Hizuru nodded. "Well if a new shadow emerges then it can create new ones to kill and take over others."
"I'm sure that Shiori was being drowned by Shadow Shiori, and then erased Shiori and acted as she was the one being drowned, and later killed the rest of the Kobayakawas." Hizuru explained her reason why she thinks so.
Hizuru gives Ginjiro her second phone.
"What do you want me to do with this?" Ginjiro asked.
"In case a boy called Shinpei Ajiro calls, answer it and check his shadow." Hizuru said as Ginjiro nodded. He had his sniper rifle with him.
Hizuru heads back to the crematorium. Her belly had increased in size looking at least 7 months, the shadow struggling within. As she walks back, she notices Alain enter the bathroom. Not before noticing another Alain, this time having a static effect, entered the bathroom. She followed them as she took a hammer from the maintenance closet. She placed a sign which she also took from the maintenance closet and placed it in front of the male's restroom. She noticed that one of the Alain's shadow is avoiding her.
She meets up with Alain and asks. "Did Ushio meet a doppelganger?"
