[Alternate Reality: After the defeat of Father, not only did Alphonse get his body back, but Edward regained both his arm and his leg. He has continued to work under the State Military albeit to a lesser extent than before due to having more perks granted him. Although one thing remains an annoyance to him: Height jokes.
"Grrraaagh!" Edward yelled in frustration as he tossed another useless book at the wall in the library. A chorus of shushing noises was heard and his eye twitched. "There has to be SOMETHING to make me taller..." Ed grumbled. He'd been in here almost all day, determined to find some sort of remedy for his height problems after a particularly annoying series of comments from Mustang.
It was telling that he had a lot of free time of late to worry about such trivial things now that the world had been saved. Alphonse had left for Xing to research Alkahestry, while Ed stayed closer to home. Needless to say the egotistical boy had become distracted with more selfish pursuits.
Ed sighed and looked back over at the bookshelf, hoping there was something he'd missed. It caught his eye then, a dusty old tome entitled: Lost Alchemy. Pulling the book from the shelf, he coughed as he blew the dust from it.
"Lost Alchemy, huh? Well..I suppose it's worth a shot." Ed shrugged and opened it up to the Table of Contents.
He spotted it, page 302: Size Alchemy.
He flipped through pages so quickly that some of the fragile pages nearly tore apart. To his disappointment after reading some of the theory, the alchemic formula was incomplete.
But being the genius that he was, he was confident he could fill in the blanks and achieve what no one else could.
"Hehehehe...this is gonna be interesting." Ed snickered.
The next morning...
Ed had been awake half the night working diligently on perfecting the fantastical Size Alchemy. He finally fell asleep at the desk in his hotel room located in East City.
The early sunlight breaking through the window stirred him awake, he sat up and stretched before glancing down at the work he'd done so far.
A wide grin broke out on his face when he saw that he indeed had nearly finished the formula. Taking his pencil, he scribbled a bit more to correct errors, obviously brought on from how tired he had been last night.
"There! Now...let's test it..." Ed stood up.
