The story of Ataru Moroboshi is one of bad luck and fortune. A normal looking teen with the worst luck and a lecherous attitude, there is no misfortune that hasn’t befallen him. Ataru’s hobbies are skirt chasing, goofing off and trying his hardest to get laid, which is hard when you’re technically married to a thunder bolt throwing alien. A little while ago, alien’s came to earth to do what all self-respecting aliens do, try to take over the world. To give humanity a chance they played a game, if a random human could catch the alien emperors daughter in a game of tag they would leave the planet alone. Ataru was ‘lucky’ enough to be chosen and was given the duty of catching the alien emperors daughter, Lum. A tigerskin bikini wearing, green haired and horned alien package of sex appeal and jealousy, Lum was as dangerous as she was gorgeous. Ataru managed to catch her, motivated by the promise of his girlfriend that if he won they would be married, but his bad luck struck and Lum misunderstood and thought they were married now.
Stuck with Lum, Ataru lost his girlfriend Shinobu and began having misadventures along with a veritable entourage of comically insane characters. Aliens, humans and inhumans alike. It was a constant battle between Ataru’s perversity and Lum’s perseverance. Overtime, Ataru did start to grow feelings for his alien wife, but his stubbornness and fear of commitment has kept him from admitting it even to himself. Life is far from simple for Ataru and while he’d love nothing more then to be able to flirt and grope all the girls he wanted, he would never dream of parting from Lum.
Love is a very strange thing, especially when it’s between a stubborn, perverted human man and a hot tempered and equally hot looking alien girl.
“Darling, when are you ever going to learn?” Sighed Lum as she floated behind her one love, who was smoking slightly from taking ten thousand volts through his whole body. Lum had shocked Ataru, as usual. He had been flirting with some woman dressed as a maid in the street, commenting how cute she looked even with a flat chest. Lum’s darling got pummelled by the maid and then Lum shocked him for good measure. Lum had dragged him away, his arm still outreached to the fuming maid as he begged for her number.
“When will I stop?” Ataru seriously grumbled, not looking his flying nuisance in the face. He was in pain all over, but that was nothing for the trouble magnet that was Ataru Moroboshi. It took more then a beating and enough electricity to light the whole town to keep him down. He spun around and pointed at Lum defiantly. “I’ll stop when I’m dead!”
“Idiot,” Lum mumbled as Ataru sat down on his bed and grabbed one of his manga. He was ignoring Lum, which was nothing new, trying to pretend he didn’t have an alien wife living with him. Lum glared at her darling and then floated over to he closet where she slept. Her darling was being more troublesome then ever. He flirted with girls right in front of her, uncaring about the punishment that was in store for him. It was really getting on Lum’s last nerve and she needed some down time to relax. Going into a closet, she pulled out a shoebox full of alien technology. Her race, the oni, were far more advanced then humans. They had invested things that the humans couldn’t have ever dreamed of. In her shoebox was an instant transporter, dimension hopper, cloner and shrink ray, all items the Oni alien’s could get at their local store.
Lum picked up her shrink ray, her mom had given it to her for her sixth birthday. She had found memories playing with it as a child, like shrinking down her house and blaming her old friend Ran. Good times.
Now she used it on herself to be alone. She was well liked by the boys at her school, they often hounded her when she wasn’t with her darling, and with strange guests dropping in all the time, it was hard to be alone. That was why Lum liked to shrink herself down and find a nice small space only she could get into to be alone for a little while. Being alone also let her take care of some other needs. She was a woman after all and her darling wasn’t satisfying any of her womanly needs. At least she was being secretly about it, her darling had his hands down his pants every night when he thought she was asleep.
Thinking about her darling and all the times she’d caught him ‘waxing the dolphin’ made Lum blush and start wondering something. She was getting sick and tired of Ataru’s antics, maybe it was time to remind him what she could do to him beyond just shocking him. Looking at her shrink ray, an idea slowly formed in her head.
