"Simon?"
"Yeah," Kittan added, the blonde man looking at the seemingly anxious woman through the small space Yoko had allowed the door to open up. "Simon. We need him to look over some of the plans for the highway. And...well, no one's seen him?"
"You know I'm not interested in that sort of thing," Yoko replied. And it was true, Yoko kept going on about how being in government work wasn't her thing, and that she was thinking about leaving the city. But that still didn't mean she was a shut in.
"He was supposedly with you for a bit earlier. Can I at least come in?" Kittan asked, reaching for the doorknob, only for his hand to be slapped away by Yoko.
"A bit presumptuous?"
"What?" Kittan asked, obviously unfamiliar with the term.
"It means don't go into a woman's room without her asking. And no, I haven't seen Simon."
A bit taken aback by Yoko's resistance to what he thought were harmless inquiries, Kittan walked away without bothering to ask for anything further. Still, as he left, the feeling of suspicion came over him. Was Yoko hiding something or had city life really been too much for her to take? Just because she didn't like her current address didn't mean she had to be a jackass to him.
Interestingly enough, the idea that she knew where Simon was or was doing anything with the young boy never crossed his mind. But they had to find him, or this project was never going to get approved. Considering what a stickler Rossiu was for rules and regulations, even trying to get the meeting done without Simon would get the whole group nothing but a lecture. A long, pointless, boring lecture, exactly the type of bureaucratic drivel that would drive a woman to look for a quieter place to live.
Sighing, Kittan began looking down the list of people he hadn't yet spoken to about Simon's whereabouts. It was getting short.
