"We can't do anything like this!" Mouse shouted. "We need to get out of here."
"But..."
"I know, I know! It hurts me too."
And with that, the two jetskis sped off into the night, unseen by the trench coat clad detective or his subordinates.
"You don't look like one of Lupin's," he began, "but maybe he's just hiring to his own decadent tastes now!"
Three days later...
The small island retreat had been good to Lupin and his cohorts. Endless amounts of gambling, liquor, and women were available at the resort, and the best part was there was still three days left to party before the group needed to inevitably move on to the next heist.
Laying in the bed in the hotel room he rented, Lupin looked on at the device he had plundered. A shrinking device. It really seemed like something out of a bad sci-fi movie. Still, the potential for heists was immense. Entire banks fitting in a pocket. Mountains of gold neatly tucked away for re-expansion later. A doll sized Fujiko to play with.
"Oh baby, we are going to have so much fun together," Lupin mused aloud, his two partners Jigen and Goemon shaking their heads as they prepared to descend into one of the resort's bars. Unfortunately, all three of them stopped when they observed the news telecast.
"Inspector Zenigata, you're saying you caught one of the suspects?
"Well, one of them, but the lead suspect is still out there! Lupin, we've got your henchgirl, and we're gonna you next!"
Happy thoughts of future heists and playing with a shrunken Fujiko vanished as Lupin looked on at the screen, Zenigata taunting the master thief over a woman that he didn't work with.
"Why...that no good slanderer!"
Jigen could only look on confused. "Lupin, what's the big deal? We don't know her."
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!" Lupin shouted, scaring both the gunman and the samurai. "He's defaming me with some poor girl who got stuck working for the rat! And now he expects to use her to make me look like a chump!"
Goemon knew no good could come of it, but asked anyway. "What do you have planned?"
"We're gonna bust her out. Then she'll really be one of mine!"
"WHAT?" Jigen and Goemon shouted in unified confusion.
"Think about it!" Lupin shouted. "Not only will we make Pops look like an idiot publicly, we'll also have a clear window into the Rat's operation!"
"The police never did find Mouse," Jigen added. "Meaning..."
"Meaning not only do we get to one-up Pops, but the Rat too. Guess we'll finish this vacation later!"
Jigen just shook his head. "Dammit, I knew you were gonna say that!"

"Lupin's gang?! Lupin's! The absolute nerve!"
While standing on a table the size of an action figure would hardly seem like the position to make one appear threatening, Yayoi and Mei couldn't help but look on in awe at their shrunken leader. Finding a way to undo the affects of the shrink gun would take time, but time was not a commodity the group had with this announcement.
"But Master," Mei pleaded, "in your current condition..."
"It's my fault for abandoning her like a coward!" Mouse shouted in response. "We must save her and show who really is the greatest thief in the world!"
While both of his servants admired their master's demeanor and bravery, they couldn't help but question how the rescue would be pulled off.
