“So where we heading to?” Ash asked as he held on to the rim of Misty’s pocket to look up into the giantesses face. Misty had been quiet since she announced they were taking a detour, seemingly lost in thought about something. Her desire to make a stop so close to her hometown confused Ash. He expected Misty to be excited about heading home, but instead she was very distant about the subject. It made Ash wonder if Misty wanted to go to Cerulean at all.
“We’re going to check out this preppy pokemon school called Pokemon Tech.”
“Very original name,” Ash sarcastically said while rolling his eyes. Sometimes he wondered if the name of buildings and organizations were thought up by ten year old kids. Everything seemed to have Pokemon in the beginning or end of it’s title. Did people really have that little of an imagination that they had to use Pokemon in all their names?
“You’re telling me, I’m almost glad they didn’t accept me in.” Misty started laughing, but it seemed forced. Ash decided not to say anything else, he wasn’t too bright, but even he could see this was a touchy subject for Misty. He slumped back into her pocket, wondering why Misty would want to visit a school that denied her admission. He gulped as the thought of Misty going for revenge occurred to him. At her size, Misty could tear the school apart with her bare hands and do whatever she wanted to the unwitting school children. Misty didn’t seem like the type to go on a rampage, but she also wasn’t a master at self control. If seeing the school that bared her entry riled her up it could be stomping time at Pokemon Tech. Then again, she could just be going out of curiosity, not bloody vengeance. God, Ash hoped so.
“We’re here!” Misty told Ash before pulling him out of her pocket. Her powerful fingers were wrapped around his waist, letting go when he was sitting on Misty’s palm. He looked out in front of him, seeing a huge fenced school with a tennis court and a pool. Students were out in the courtyard, some training others playing with fancy gadgets meant to better train them. Ash nodded in appreciation at the fancy academy, it looked very extravagant. Ash had heard of places like Pokemon Tech, where young trainers learn how to battle and strengthen their strategies. Personally, Ash thought it was a waist of money. What could they learn in these expensive schools that couldn’t be learned on a pokemon journey? Then again, he had lost his first and only pokemon his first day and was now enslaved to a giant tomboy, so maybe learning about pokemon before heading out into the world was a good idea.
“Nice place. I’d have loved to train here,” Ash said before realizing what he’d done. Misty had wanted to train here and hadn’t been permitted in. What he’d said had basically reminded Misty that this place was awesome and that she wasn’t there. Feeling like a heel he tried to retract his comment, but Misty spoke up before he could speak.
“Yes, it is a nice place. Lets get a closer look.” Misty was smiling now, but it wasn’t a very nice smile. Nodding weakly to Misty’s words, Ash hanged on as Misty strolled towards the school, stepping over the gate to stand in the courtyard. Students stopped what they were doing and looked up at the towering pre-teen standing in front of the school. Misty looked down at the tiny people and moved her hands to her hips. She savored the student’s attention for a moment, before someone yelled out at Misty ruining the moment.
“What are you doing here?”
Out of the school stomped a girl, a pretty girl Ash noticed right away. She was a lovely young woman, with long dark purple hair and was wearing a school uniform. She stepped right in front of Misty, unafraid of the girl that stood fifty times her height. She scowled up at Misty, managing to both look angry, yet remain cute.
“We don’t let freaks like you into our school!” She pointed a finger up at Misty’s chest accusingly.
At first, Misty looked hurt at the comment, but that was quickly replaced with anger. Baring her teeth at the privileged student, Misty barked out, “Who are you calling a freak?”
“I’m calling you a freak, we don’t let cheating power users into this school. They all lie and cheat during pokemon battles and our school doesn’t let them in. Get out of here now, we don’t like your type.”
“I know,” Misty said with a little less anger in her voice. Ash lowered his head, so this was why Misty wasn’t allowed in. The school was prejudice and didn’t let anyone in that had a power. Misty had been refused admission not because of her talent as a trainer, but because of what she was. That really made Ash angry. He hated when people judged people not on their merit, but by what they were. It didn’t matter what color someone’s skin was, or if they were rich or poor, or if they could grow to gigantic sizes. What mattered was what was inside.
Ash leaned over Misty’s hand and screamed right down at the girl, giving her a piece of his mind. “Hey, you can’t talk to Misty that way! She’s an awesome trainer and she could kick your butt easily!”
“Who said that?” The girl looked up, spotting Ash on Misty’s hand. Her sneer grew at the sight of Ash. “What’s this, a pet or a protector? What’s wrong, can’t fight your own battles and get someone else to do it for you? How pathetic.”
“No!” Misty’s voice came out strong. She glanced in Ash’s direction for a moment, as if seeing him gave her strength then looked back down at the pampered schoolgirl. Misty was smiling again, an honest to God smile. She bent down to look closer at the student, catching a few people murmur her name as they backed away. Misty overheard someone call her Giselle. It was nice putting a name to a bitchy face.
“Giselle,” Misty said calmly. “You just made the biggest mistake of your very short life.”
Misty chuckled and the confidence Giselle had been showing since first walking out started to drain. For the first time, Giselle wondered if she’d bullied the wrong person and was in serious trouble. She looked up at Ash again, but got no support from him. He had no pity for her and was only hoping that whatever Misty did wouldn’t be too painful for Giselle, or at least kill her relatively painlessly.
