Saffron City.
One of the most populous and busiest cities in, not only Kanto, but the entire world. A metropolitan paradise filled with bright lights, big buildings and an opportunity for trainers to challenge a prestigious (and some would say, infamous) gym as well. However, for one young man named Johnathan, this city was something much more than just a tourist attraction. It was his home.
"Haah, been a while since I've been around here...I almost forgot how the air smells here." He sighed, casually strolling along the yellow cobblestone sidewalk as he fixated his dark brown eyes on the towering buildings that surrounded him and the bustling crowd of people that scurried about on their usual business. Looking to be right around the age of 18, this nostalgic traveler was dressed in a dark blue, hooded jacket as a red and black cap sat atop his ( normally messy ) black hair. A red rucksack and a line of red and white spheres strapped onto his belt indicated that this person was one of many Pokemon Trainers that were fighting their way through the competition for the title of champion to their home region. Johnathan took another whiff of the atmosphere, taking a moment to savor what he hasn't experienced for well over seven years now. Time passes in mysterious ways for some and for the wandering trainer, this was especially true. Indeed, he had once lived in Saffron quite a while ago, a time when he was still just a youngster. Though he loved the urban living in Saffron, his lifestyle changed drastically when he decided to leave to embark on his pokemon journey and begin his career as a trainer.
Ever since his departure from Saffron, Johnathan has seen many regions, captured a diverse troop of monsters and met many different people. All of his journey wrapping up here back in Saffron after he had won his second badge in the Unova region. However, sometime after this, homesickness began to set in...and before he realized it, he found himself hopping on a ferry due Kanto and...well, here he was. Though much of the blame could be placed on homesickness, this traversing trainer knew of the true reason as to why he was back in town...
To see Sabrina again.
"I wonder...how she's doing now." Johnathan pondered to himself as he turned down the street that would lead him to his destination...and the source of his attraction. Johnathan had known of Sabrina since his youth, having witnessed first hand the power she and her gym attendees had displayed during their duel with the Fighting Dojo. He remembered when he first saw her...long, flowing black hair, a blossoming set of feminine curves...and a cold flare of dominance that radiated from her figure. It was no secret that he's been...enamored by Sabrina since then and not just for her beauty...but for the mystery that surrounded her. Johnathan never got the chance to truly interact with her like he wished he did back during those days, his hesitation being brought forth by a latent fear to actually approach her. Sure Sabrina was hot and mysterious but...actually approaching her was a different matter entirely. After spending a month mulling over how he would just say "hi" to the psionic gym leader, Johnathan made the decision to tough himself up by going out and challenging the Indigo League of Kanto.
Though he did not exactly plan on staying gone for seven years...he can at least say that the extra time away was enough to steel his nerves for what he would be doing in another few moments.
"I can only hope she still remembers me...if she even saw me that day." Johnathan fretted as he made his way up toward the Saffron City Gym and walked past the automatic doors that parted to welcome him inside. It took a moment or two, but eventually Johnathan found himself within the heart of the gym, an area where he knew Sabrina was found...
Only to find that the area was nigh void of anyone.
"Is...anyone even here...?" Johnathan inquired to himself, glancing over his should and peering to the right.
"Yo, is anyone around?" He called out, hoping he would get an answer. "I'm here to see Sabrina, the gym leader here."
For a time, Johnathan stood in the chamber bathed in silence, that is, until...
"Another challenger...?" A mature, womanly voice rang out from all around, Johnathan perking as the echo rushed into his ears like water and signaled a distant memory in his mind to recall just who was at the other end to this mysterious resonance.
"Sabrina..." Johnathan muttered, swallowing a lump that accumulated in his throat before stepping forth and making his presence known. "I'm not here to challenge you, Sabrina. It's me...Johnny!"
His words were returned with silence.
"You remember me, don't you?" He urged, his nervousness palpable in his quivering voice as her realized the one he had spent so much time coming back too may not even remember he existed.
"...Johnny?" Johnathan blinked as the once lucid tone began to soften with a hint of familiarity, his eyes fixated ahead as a green flash of psionic energy revealed a figure standing to the back of the room. Excitement swelled within the trainer's heart as he trotted his way up to the psychic gym leader, a friendly smile plastered on his face.
"Sabrina, you..."
