While Suguru whined about missing all the action, Mahoro was looking for someone that could get them back down to Earth. Eventually she ran into a woman with red hair. A friend of Ryuga, named Sera.
"Excuse me, do you know how to operate the matter transport ?" Mahoro asked politely.
Sera had been told by Ryuga that Mahoro would show up later, so she didn't have to ask any questions. "Sure, just follow me" she said. So Mahoro did, while still dragging Suguru.
They soon reached a room that only had the a transport pad, and a nearby control panel. Mahoro simply walked onto it, and Suguru followed. However, as it got started up, Sera found a question she wished to ask.
"Wait, is your last name, Misato ?" she saw a resemblance in the teenager. "Um yes, why do you ask ?" Suguru asked. Mahoro quickly spoke up "Uh we really have to go now, please!".
Sera activated the teleport.
In a flash, Suguru and Mahoro were back outside their house. Much to Mahoro's relief, Sera had almost blown her secret. Back when she was working for Vesper, Mahoro had been friends with Suguru's father. He was a commanding officer for Vesper, and kept that a secret from his family.
Unfortunately, during an attack on a military base by the aliens, one of them captured him. Mahoro had fought to save him, but the alien used him for a shield.
*Flashback*
"SHOOT MAHORO!" Commander Misato shouted within the grasp of the enemy. "NO! I'LL DESTROY YOU" Mahoro begged for another way. "I SAID SHOOT, THAT'S AN ORDER!!" he yelled. He knew that if these creatures weren't stopped, they would launch the missles from the base.
More tears fell from Mahoro's eyes as she raised the gun. She knew this had to be done, but that didn't make the pain go away.
One pull of the trigger, was all it took.
*End Flashback*
"Mahoro ?" she snapped out of it, when she heard her name. "How did that girl know my name ?" Suguru asked. "Oh!...um well...uh obviously! Ryuga talks about me a lot, so your name must have been brought up once or twice" she explained. "Uh, okay" Suguru backed down. Clearly Mahoro was hiding something, but he knew that what ever it was, she kept it secret for a reason.
Respecting her decision, Suguru turned towards the door.
Mahoro sighed a few steps behind him. Oh how that truth had racked her with guilt. It was bad enough that she had to keep this secret when Suguru was just her employer, but now he was her boyfriend, and she still couldn't tell him. She kicked herself for that, but the thought of Suguru hating her, was just to terrifying.
As Suguru neared the door, he noticed that all the lights were off. "They must have gotten tired of waiting" he figured.
Just as he grabbed the knob though, a flash of light caught their eyes. The two looked up to see an amazing spectacle. Streaking across the sky, was what appeared to be, a falling star.
"What is that ?" Suguru asked aloud. That thing was falling way too low, and it crashed nearby!
"Mahoro, we have to check this out" he said. "Right" she agreed. "I summon the Sylpheed!" she called out. The big jet pack came forth, and Mahoro leaped into the air. "Uh, I'll....catch up" Suguru sighed watching her take off.
From her bird's eye view, Mahoro soon spotted where the object was. It had crashed in some nearby hills. "Slash, meet at my location" she spoke into her pendent.
As she landed, her support mech soon arrived. "What's is it ?" he asked awaiting orders. Mahoro lead the way.
The two soon found the crater. Inside was some type of......module, that was pretty much the only word that could describe this thing.
"What is it ?" Slash asked. "I don't know, but what ever it is, it's not any alien technology I've ever seen" Mahoro clarified. This thing didn't appear to be Saint or Keeper tech.
Mahoro looked closer. An object in the middle of the device continued to glow off and on, and made a strange humming noise.
As she looked more intently, Slash stopped her "Careful, it's probably-". "He stopped when the thing made a groaning noise. Mahoro reered back, just in time to see the object release steam.
After a few seconds, it stopped. Slash touched it with his paw "ice cold".
Then they heard tires screech behind them. Mahoro saw Suguru ride up and stop next to them. "Mahoro! I'm h-WAH!" he tripped and fell.
After her boyfriend face planted, Mahoro said "Suguru! Are you okay ?". He answered unharmed "Yeah, but I think Minawa is rubbing..huh ?". Slowly he rose up, and when he turned, both Slash and Mahoro gasped.
"Wha ? What is..." Suguru felt something stuck to his forehead. Also the fact that it was blocking his vision made panic well up even faster.
"Suguru!" Mahoro was really worried. This alien machine, or what ever it was, was stuck onto his head. Suguru desperately tried to tug it off "What th-It's Stuck!". Mahoro then tried "Hang on, I-AH!". She was blown back. That thing had some kind of invisible energy field.
Mahoro was about to get up, when she heard foot steps behind her.
