It was yet another day in Tokyo-3. The same heat. The same sense of foreboding. The temperature never seemed to drop below eighty degrees.....at least in the daytime. On very rare evenings the temperature might drop to a reasonable amount. It was a common joke that if the temperature ever rose above 120 people would go to work in the nude. It was the same summer day for however how long the Earth had because the planet itself was off its axis ever since the Second Impact.
Another day in Tokyo-3 meant it was under an angel attack. Usually just one angel attacked the city at a time but today was a little bit different. Today Tokyo-3 was under attack by not one but three angels, one for reach of the three Eva pilots. There was nothing especially special about the angels other than the fact that each of the three had the same face.....for lack of a better word. The angels were humanoid but had animal-like heads. One would assume that the angels needed to be killed all at once not unlike the two that Asuka and Shinji had to be in perfect sync in order to kill the pair. That apparently wasn't the case this time. The angels didn't defend each other.
Which angel was the strongest was debatable in Asuka's opinion. All three angels were defeated within minutes of each other. Asuka and Shinji each killed theirs but Rei was having a bit of a problem after the angel she was attacking badly damaged her Eva. As luck would have it Asuka was the one that finished off the last remaining angel meaning that she had killed two in one fight. This made Asuka very happy indeed now that she had a chance to show off her skills with the Eva.
"It's not a competition" said Shinji after the three had returned to NERV.
"That's what losers like you always say" said Asuka laughing.
"There's something on your shoulder" said Rei in her monotone voice . Asuka glanced aside to see what looked like some sort of pod that had latched onto her plug suit. The pod was the size of a large peanut and was a greenish color. The pod was surrounded by what looked like the blood of the angel which was a purplish color.
"Where did that came from?" asked Shinji.
" The angel would be my guess" said Asuka picking up the pod carelessly and crushed it with her thumb and forefinger. "It did spray quite a lot of blood when I killed it"
Neither Shinji or Rei had any pods on them or their Evas. Asuka's Eva was simply covered by both blood and those odd pods. The rest of the day was spent cleaning off Asuka's Eva.
The beings known as angels can come in all sizes. Not all angels were towering giants. In fact one angel had infected the computers at NERV. Not much was known about the angels....at least publicly. No one really knew what abilities angels could and couldn't have.
The two angels that Asuka killed had released thousands and thousands of those pods just prior to their deaths. Most of these pods were killed off by varying factors but the one that had landed on Asuka's shoulder had time to.....add a little something to the young pilot's bloodstream without her knowing. This little something managed to somehow elude detection of all known blood tests and whatnot. It was as if this remnant of the angel had a mind of its own.
Over the course of the next few days nothing was really noticeable about Asuka. She had the same altitude, the same arrogance, the same everything really. It was not until two weeks later that a change was clearly happening to Asuka.
Asuka awoke in Misato's apartment one morning to discover that she had a growth spurt...and quite a big one at that for she had gained at least four feet in height!
"Ahhh!" yelled Shinji when Asuka had nudged him awake. "What on Earth happened to you?!"
" That's what I like to know! " said Asuka. "I would say I had a growth spurt but this is ridiculous!"
"Can't you two keep it down?" came the voice of Misato. "I had a late night with---". Misato had stopped short when she saw Asuka at her new height. "Asuka?! What the hell?!"
" I need to get out of here before I outgrow this apartment " said Asuka. It was here that Asuka noticed that she was naked due to her new height. She yelped and covered up her body.
"That sounds like a terrific idea" said Misato.
"But I can't go out like this!" yelled Asuka motioning at her naked body .
Eventually, Asuka was talked into leaving the apartment. With no better ideas, Asuka was led straight to NERV by Misato and Shinji.
First came a battery of tests to see what had caused Asuka to grow. It wasn't long until that Asuka had been classified as an angel by the tests.
"But I'm no angel!" Asuka had protested.
"That's not what these reports say" said Doctor Akagi. "According to all the tests we ran so far you're now an angel"
Asuka had insisted on more tests to prove that she wasn't an angel. Another round of tests were ran and, this time, she had registered as a human.
"Hmmmm..." said Akagi rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "Two conflicting results"
" What does that mean? " asked Gendo who had been watching the tests in silence. "First, she's an angel and now she registers as a human"
"I don't know, sir" said Akagi. " I've never seen anything like this before. It is possible that she has both human and angel DNA now. It's the only way to explain these results "
"I am human" said Asuka.
Gendo just stared, his face a mask.
"Dr. Akagi?" asked one of the other doctors . "You and Asuka should see this"
It was then discovered that Asuka's plug suit had somehow grown to fit Asuka's new height .
"The two were clearly effected by something..." said Akagi.
" Well, at least I won't be naked anymore" said Asuka.

Where......?
"Hm?"
This.....is....certainly different
Asuka opened her eyes. It was hours later. She was still in a large room where she had undertaken all of those tests. She had changed back into her plug suit in lieu of being naked. After putting her plug suit back on, Asuka had drifted off to sleep. Asuka looked around to see she was very much alone in the room.
Oh dear.....don't tell me I bonded with a human
"Alright" said Asuka. " Where are you? I can hear you"
I'm.....within you. I'm what is left of the angel you killed
"The angel I killed.... ?" asked Asuka faintly. "But that was two weeks ago"
If you say so. I have no concept of what you humans call time
"Alright, this is freaky"
Freaky?
"Um....weird"
Weird?
"Just what are you?" asked Asuka.
I told you. I'm what is left of the...
"Just leave me alone" said Asuka. " And get out of my body"
I can't do that. I'm bonded with you now
"What do you mean bonded?" asked Asuka. " You make it sound like you're some kind of parasite "
More like a symbiote
