An unexpected light shone on Shinji as he awoke, forcing his eyes open. When he looked around, he noticed he was no longer in the stomach of Misato, but rather laying on her bed, with a small post-it note placed next to him.

Shinji, I headed off to work, but I didn't want to wake you up early. Try to get to class on time today.

The smell of Misato was still all over the young man, a musk that whaffed over the bed and his entire body. It was a sweet smell, one that he wished could follow him everywhere he went.

"Eww! Dieser Geruch ist schrecklich! What is that stink?!"

Apparently he was the only one that thought so. A shower was in order before he went to school.

Walking into the kitchen, fully dressed and with a copy of the morning paper firmly in hand, Shinji looked over at Asuka, sitting at the table looking over a textbook. He wasn't sure if the mild scowl was because of something that occurred, or if it was just built into her face.

"Did Misato leave anything for breakfast?"

"Just some cereal and milk, or some ramen," Asuka quickly replied, then went back to her book. Shinji's seemingly smug attitude grazed her a bit. If he was expecting her to make him breakfast after spending the evening with Misato, then he'd be enjoying a foot right down his throat.

Lucky enough for him, Shinji elected to pour his own bowl of cereal and sat down, reading the paper. He was midway through the sports section when Asuka asked "Did you study for the test today?"

"Which one was that?" Shinji answered, feigning ignorance.

"Baka. It was the math test, remember? Statistics? I was over at Hikari's house last night helping her study for it while you and Misato were off playing games."

"That obvious huh?" Shinji answered, a rather evident blush on his face. Statistics was a topic that he knew, having already taken a test on it prior. He was glad that of all the points for his education to reset on, that the universe had rewound rather than went too far forward. Failing school was still not something he cared to do.

"I could smell her stink from my room," Asuka continued, the source of her annoyance now a bit clearer. "She should have just digested you and gotten it over with. I don't know how any woman can let someone just lay in their stomach and let them go without digesting. Hikari couldn't even digest Touji, much less let me digest him..."

Asuka continued to mutter as Shinji finished his cereal. Even something as pedestrian as class now took on a new meaning in this world. Who could he expect to see?

Then another thought occurred to him as he went out the door, with Asuka apparently still sitting down in full rant mode at the table. He hadn't seen Rei since first visiting this new world.
