"As many of you all know, I've called you all here today because I am stepping down from my position." Tsunade addresses a crowd that is bristling with excitement. "Now that my apprentice has finished off Akatsuki and our village is safe, I'm finally able to pass the title along. The man who is my successor is a man who rose from nothing. He rose surrounded by hatred and despair, he rose despite receiving beatings instead of love as a child. He rose despite all those who said it was impossible. He rose to become an honorable and powerful ninja, the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Fourth Hokage himself. On this day, I know I'm leaving the village in good hands, because I'm leaving them in the hands of the boy who convinced me to become Hokage in the first place. On this day, I hand our village's future over to the very capable hands of Naruto Uzumaki, your Sixth Hokage!"
Cheers erupt from the crowd as soon as Tsunade finishes her speech. A giant foxy grin is plastered on Naruto's face as he scratches the back his head nervously. The cheering dies down and the crowd looks at Naruto expectantly. Naruto stares back wondering what the heck they're waiting for.
"They're waiting for a speech Naruto." Sakura nudges him gently.
"I'm no good at speeches Sakura-chan! What the hell am I supposed to do?" Naruto whispers furiously back.
Sakura wraps her arm around his waist and guides him to the very front of the balcony. "Just speak from your heart baka, that usually turns out well."
"Umm..." Naruto starts out nervously. Sakura squeezes him and he gives her a grateful smile. "Right. Well thanks for that applause and stuff. It means more to me than you all will ever know to have your acceptance and recognition. I'm going to be honest here... Speeches aren't exactly my thing..." Some of the crowd snickers at this. "But my assistant here tells me that I should just speak from my heart... so if this speech sucks, blame her." That earns Naruto a smack to the back of the head and a glare from his girlfriend, causing the crowd to howl in laughter.
"Err... I mean... blame my heart?" Naruto questions looking nervously at Sakura. She simply smacks her head with a small smile on her face. "Well, I guess I don't know who you should blame... But anyways... Here we go! I'm not going to lie to any of you, or sugar coat it at all, my childhood was hell. If it weren't for some special people acknowledging me during my academy years, I'm not sure what would've happened to me. But I received a small amount of acknowledgement, and that was enough for me to seek my dream. Against all the odds, I've achieved my dream. When any of you are about to give up, look at me, I'm a testament to where determination can get you. Hell, I even managed to get Sakura-chan here to like me." Naruto jokes getting more laughs from the gathered villagers.
"Like I said earlier, speeches aren't my thing, so I'm going to wrap this up. I will be the greatest Hokage ever, I will protect each and every single one of you, BELIEVE IT!" A roar of approval erupts from the crowd.
"Well uh... I guess since that's all I got to say... I'll see everyone at the coronation party that starts in 15 minutes!"
The crowd cheers again and Naruto feels Sakura's lips press gently against his cheek.
"Good speech Naruto..."
"Alright kids, let's get to the party!" Tsunade yells breaking up the potential tender moment. "Now that I'm not Hokage anymore, I don't have to set a good example. That means I can drink to my hearts content!"
Sakura giggles at her excited master and follows after her, pulling Naruto along with her.
