“Nothing is gained in life without putting something on the line, that’s what I say.” People know they have got themselves a good shrink when they say something profound like that. That or when they make them cry from just the first session. You weren’t exactly ready to cry right about now, but you still felt like your heart was about to collapse.
Julie’s words of wisdom had stayed with you for the past week, accompanying your already increasingly dirty dreams about her. Every night brought your thoughts back to her, no matter what, and even when you were awake and focused, your desire to be near her always seemed to pop up, stronger than it had ever been. You did all you could to convince yourself that this wasn’t what you thought it was, including that this was just a side effect from now suddenly being three feet tall, but you know the truth, and the truth was, that wasn’t the whole truth.
No words came from your mouth as you were driven to the appointment, which worked out well since your mom had apparently decided that today was when she would inform every terrible driver on the road just how rotten of people they were. It probably kept her mind off the new knowledge that her son’s shrinking was rather erratic, and a week from now, he could wake up half an inch shorter or suddenly be the size of a pea. While she showed off her middle finger, you didn’t even feel the high speed swerves. Julie was the only thing on your mind.
Just by walking into the building, you felt like somebody had put weights on your legs. It was like half of your brain was screaming to run out, and the other said go forward. The rest of you remained stiff, fortunately excluding one particular part, with the only other movement being the biting of your lip. You had zero clue of what awaited you behind that door, and for the first time, thinking about who was behind the door left you feeling no comfort at all.
By this point, as you held that knob in your hand, you felt like you could cry, as you knew that this had the potential of ruining what had quickly turned into the greatest part of your life. You felt selfish from this desire that wouldn’t leave your mind, lost as you tried to find the right words to make this work, and dread at the thought of even the smallest chance of hurting Julie. Ultimately, you decided to move forward; it was time to do some real confessing to your shrink.
“Julie?” you walked, and in a shocking twist, none of her naughty bits were already getting to you. Julie was actually just sitting at her desk, in deep thought from the looks of her. She didn’t even realize you were there until you said her name, and that actually made her jump. “Oh uh, Peter, hi.” For someone who knew just how fun it was to tease you, this really didn’t add up. You wanted to note it as her just being human, but you already knew that something was up. However, you were dealing with far too much already to even ponder that.
“Crap, now what do I do?” Julie thought as she also bit down on her lip, looking away and hiding her face with her hand while you went to take your seat. The truth was that she had been feeling some very similar emotions to her favorite patient, and they had been with her since last week. She didn’t know what happened; everything had been just fine one second. You jumped up to dash to the bathroom and wound up looking like a total goof, but still just as adorable as before, the reaction she was aiming for. Then, BAM! She felt something between her legs and suddenly she had no idea where she was. “Well, can’t avoid him forever.” She thought before standing. Like you thought earlier; she was very smart.
Once she made her way over, she noticed that you hadn’t taken your seat, and once her eyes were on you, you found your voice “Julie, I…I gotta confess. I wasn’t completely honest last time. There is something that I really want to talk about.” Her attention was kept firmly on you, waiting with baited breath even as the cynical side of her personality, AKA most of her, told the rest “Here comes the lawsuit.”
“The thing is…I am scared cuz of my shrinking, Julie. Not because I’m going to die sooner. I mean, everyone dies, and I know that. It’s just…I thought I had a handle on this and was just going to spend the time I have left enjoying myself, plain and simple. However, there is one thing, one powerful desire, that’s the only thing I’m longing for even though in the back of my head, I knew it would never happen. *Sigh* I don’t want to die a virgin.”
There, it was out in the air, but you didn’t give her time to speak, blurting everything out at once “I know what you’re thinking, and I’m sorry, but it’s how I feel. I want to have sex, so much that it’s been driving me crazy. That’s not the worst part though. No, the worst of it is that when I think about that, I think about you. I know how I must look to you right now, and you have to believe me, if I could destroy these feelings, I would, because you are the best friend I have ever had. You make me feel so calm and comfortable and I love so many things about. Your personality, your quirks, your laugh, you are easily the coolest person I have ever met. Still, that won’t stop me from walking out that door and never seeing you again, if that’s what you want, because right now, what I want even more is to make you happy.”
You panted and gasped, fighting back tears as you tried to keep at least some composure. You had meant every word, especially the last part. Julie’s sake was now your top priority, and no matter how much it hurt, you knew you had more than likely gone too far by saying you wanted to bone her, so if she wanted you gone, you would disappear.
