Being stuck in the middle of a spat between his two love interests was nothing new for Archie Andrews, but he had never felt this antsy about it now that he had the girl’s literally in the palm of his hand. He looked at the blond and black haired girls, each four inches tall and glaring at each other from his hands. If he didn’t have his hands apart they would have lunged at each other.
“Archie, how about you put ‘HER’ on a high shelf and we can continue with our date. I’m sure we can find something to do even with me being a little bit out of sorts,” Veronica said while keeping her eyes on her equally pint-sized rival. Veronica might have been smaller then a toy, but she wasn’t going to let that ruin her planned evening with Archie.
“Forget her Archie. She found out I had tickets for the next Josie and the Pussycats concert and asked you out before I could tell you. Put her down and we can still go,” Betty responded, sticking her tongue out at Veronica. Betty wasn’t bothered by the loss of size either other then finding it harder to get at Veronica. The only one that seemed really freaked out about it was Archie.
“Jeeze, I’m going to kill Dilton for causing this mess,” Archie muttered as the girls kept on fighting. It had all happened after school today when Dilton asked Archie to check out his latest creation, a shrinking ray. Betty and Veronica had tagged along, just as interested in the invention as Archie. Dilton had shown them the machine, trying to demonstrate on an apple when the ray malfunctioned and both Betty and Veronica were hit. It seemed to have no effect on them and they left, but later when Veronica had come by for their date and Betty barged in to interfere that the delayed affects of the shrink ray went into action. Within seconds there were two piles of clothes in Archie’s living room and a pair of confused girls crawling out of them. The first thing Archie did was giving the girls a handkerchief each to cover their tiny naked bodies. As soon as they were clothed they went back to arguing, ignoring the fact that had shrunken to pursue their rivalry.
“I’m not going out with either of you right now, we’re just going to have to wait until Dilton calls back and tells us how to fix this,” Archie said as he tried to appease his two off again, on again girlfriends. As soon as they were dressed, Archie called Dilton hoping for a quick solution, but only got his voice mail. He tried his cell phone and his email, but no response yet. Right now he was sitting in his room with his girls, hoping for a miracle or at least for the hostility to end.
“Not until she says she’ll stay away from you. Your mine!” Veronica smugly said as she placed her hands on her tiny hips and pointed accusingly at Betty who just looked offended by the mere suggestion that she back off. She had found it strange at first when the world suddenly became so much bigger. The boy she loved became a giant that could carry her in his hand, but she persevered and focused on what was important, getting rid if Betty.
“No, he’s mine!” Betty shoot back, steadying herself on Archie’s palm as she shook her fist at Veronica. She hated being this size and not being able to get her hands on Betty. She found everything so strange at this size, but she had to admit that Archie’s billboard sized face looked really cute from this perspective. She was ready to crawl up Archie’s arm, across his shoulders and run at Veronica over his other arm, but was stopped as Archie’s hand shook.
“Enough!”
Archie placed both girls on his bed and stared down at them, annoyed beyond belief by how they were acting. He was usually a very patient guy, but his nerves were shot from seeing them shrink and their bickering was getting out of hand. The girls stared up at the giant boy, his looming mountain of a body almost godlike at their size.
“Veronica, you are one of the most passionate, free-spirited girls I’ve ever met. When you want to be kind you such a big heart and I feel like I can spend my entire life with you. Your one of the most special girl’s I know,” Archie said to the tiny dark haired beauty before turning to the blond cutie beside her. “Betty, you’re so sweet and fun that every second I spend with you feels like a dream come true. You never care what others think, allowing you to act with so much confidence that all I can think about is how lucky I am to be around you.”
The girl’s swooned at the sweet things that Archie said, but he wasn’t done, lowering his head he finished without looking at either one of them. “I think I love you, both of you. I know it isn’t fair, I know I can’t have you both, but I can’t see myself living with either one of you. The choice is so hard, but your constant fighting is only making it harder. I don’t want to hurt either of you, I can’t hurt you, but all I see is hurt and ugliness when you two fight. I can’t take it anymore.”
With that Archie left his room, leaving the four-inch girls alone, to ponder on what he had told them.
