"So," said Gwen. "you sound like you've run into these --brood? -- before"
Gwen was addressing Jennifer who was busy looking over her bloated middle. The She-Hulk mumbled darkly under her breath. It looked as though she was trying to calm down but to no (or little) avail. Gwen looked over at Gwenpool who was caressing her large belly. Gwen's gaze settled on Movor who had a bemused look on his face.
"The Avengers discovered a nest of brood in a swamp in Louisiana somewhere after a dust-up with several criminal groups" said Jennifer. "let's see.....this was four, five years ago now. We spent all day killing those bugs who had taken over the wreck of a steamboat"
"Such ugly brutes" sneered Venom looking at the dead bodies of the brood.
"Very much so" said Jennifer. "and they multiply just like the xenomorphs in the Alien franchise"
"Eww" chimed in Gwen.
"There are several nests of brood on Sakaar" said Movor. "these are the Bullseye nest"
"Bullseye?" asked Gwen looking down at the dead bodies of the alien insects. It was then that Gwen saw what looked like a birthmark on the forehead of the dead bodies. The birthmark looked vaguely like a bullseye. "might as well say 'aim here to kill me' "
"Yeah, it's a somewhat unfortunate birthmark" said Movor.
"I can't believe we all ate those...things" said Gwenpool with just a hint of a shudder.
"Have you encountered these...brood...before?" asked Gwen to Gwenpool.
"Not personally" said Gwenpool shaking her head. "but I do know quite a lot about the Marvel universe"
"Marvel universe..?" asked Jennifer faintly.
"What are you talking about?" asked Movor to Gwenpool.
"Never mind that" said Gwen. "we need to get this nasty taste out of our mouths"
"We?" asked Movor with a raised brow.
Before anyone could say anything Gwen suddenly rushed at Jennifer. As Gwen ran towards Jennifer, Venom grew over the face of Gwen. Jennifer had barely enough time to pull out what looked like a pistol from somewhere underneath her clothing. The pistol had an unusually long barrel and it looked much too small to use bullets.
Gwenom was within an arm's reach of Jennifer when Jennifer leveled the pistol at Gwenom and fired. What emerged from the pistol wasn't a bullet but a high-pitched sound. The sound didn't bother anyone else in the room but Gwenom.
Gwenom stopped dead. The sound seemed to be causing physical pain to Venom as it retreated from sight, leaving behind Gwen Stacy's body in full view. Gwen still had her superhero outfit on so the girl wasn't naked. Venom tried to grow back to cover Gwen's again and again but kept failing.
"Stop...it!" cried Gwen as she finally backed off.
"Well, that worked" said Jennifer as she stopped firing the pistol at Gwen. It took almost a minute for Gwen to recover from the sonic attack. She gasped when she discovered that she -- Gwen -- was bleeding from the ears. Another minute later, Venom returned in covering most of Gwen's body.
"That's some gun" said Gwenpool who whistled impressively.
"It was made by Doctor S" said Jennifer.
"Dr. S?" asked Gwenpool.
"A member of our little Warbound" said Jennifer. "she's an alien scientist who maintains that we can't possibly pronounce her name so we call her Doctor S"
"And she makes such weapons?" asked Gwen.
"We needed a weapon that would work on you and your little... friend" said Jennifer. "we couldn't be sure on whose side you were on"
Gwen scoffed. "Did you really think I would be on the side of the people who kidnapped me? You know me better than that, Jen"
"But I don't know about your other half" said Jennifer. "according to Dr. S, symbiotes tend to change their hosts"
"It doesn't work that way" said Gwen.
"Look, can we discuss this elsewhere?" asked Movor. "before more brood show up?"
"Yeah, that'll be a good idea" said Gwenpool.
The group soon made it out of the cavern and returned to the network of tunnels. The group hadn't made it far from where they were when Kamala suddenly emerged from somewhere up ahead.
"Kamala!" yelled Jennifer.
Kamala turned to smile at the group as they came up to her location. Kamala had came from the right passage of a Y fork in the tunnel.
"How did you manage to find us?" asked Gwenpool.
"With the help of HAL" said Kamala. "he has a map of the tunnels. Ah, Movor! So good to see you"
"I wonder what happened to Xacandar " muttered Gwen as she followed the others down the left passage of the Y fork. Silence hung in the air for several long minutes as the group walked on.
"So," said Gwen as the group walked passed a intersection and kept going forward. "you wanna tell me what object Tivan is looking for that you apparently have? I bet I can guess what it is in twenty questions.... maybe thirty? Let's split the difference and say twenty-five"
Three beats of silence.
"Are we close enough, Kamala?" asked Jennifer.
"Yeah," replied Kamala. "HAL says there are no listening devices within a thousand feet"
"Very well" said Jennifer. "we're pretty sure Tivan lost an object of immense power...and that's putting it mildly. Fortunately we managed to find it when it appeared on this junkyard of a planet"
Gwen did a "hurry this along" gesture that nobody saw since the group was still moving.
"Well....the object that The Collector lost," said Jennifer dramatically. "is the infinity gauntlet"
Gwenpool, who was walking in front of Gwen, stopped dead. Gwen, caught by surprise, walked right into Gwenpool. This made Gwenpool stumble into Movor.
"Hey, watch it!" yelled Gwen. "why did you stop?!"
"The Collector had the infinity gauntlet?!" asked Gwenpool. "but...I thought Adam Warlock had it last"
"Adam who?" asked a bewildered Jennifer.
"What is this infinity gauntlet?" asked Gwen.
"It houses the six infinity stones" said Gwenpool with excitement in her voice. "each of which holds a different aspect of the universe; Mind, power, time, soul, power and space. Whoever puts on the gauntlet is pretty much a god...if it has all six stones of course"
A ringing silence filled the tunnel.
"How did you know about the gauntlet?" asked Movor.
"Like who hasn't heard of it?" asked Gwenpool, rolling her eyes. "it's a legendary item like the Holy Grail or....the Maltese Falcon...oh, that's not a real thing in this universe.. or Excalibur or..."
"We totally get the idea!" exclaimed Kamala.
"So....you have an item that powerful.... and you haven't used it yet?" asked Gwen.
"Due to the little fact that the gauntlet channels enough energy to light up a continent," said Jennifer. "none of us are all that eager to put it on. Anyway, the gauntlet is one hell of a bargaining chip and a deterrent. We agree to only use it in dire straights"
"Yes...I can see why you would hesitate to put it on" said Gwen. "hell, I would hesitate to put it on. Being a god is too great of a responsibility"
"Ugh...I just KNEW that Drez would somehow shoehorn in that saying" sighed Gwenpool. "everyone has an Uncle Ben"
"Who?" asked Movor.
"What are you, an owl?" snapped Gwenpool.
