Gwen Stacey swung and landed on the roof somewhere in New York City. It was one of the taller skyscrapers the city was known for. It was approaching midnight and still there was traffic in the city that never slept.
Gwen was a good twenty blocks from her apartment. She'd be home in less than ten minutes. The earpiece that she wore was tuned into the police scanner. It was mostly silent with men reporting petty and much more less crime that hardly called for Gwen Stacey's help. Or, as J. Jonah Jameson would have it, Gwen Stacey's meddling. Or rather Spider Woman's meddling since nobody knew Gwen's true identity. Gwen could only imagine what would happen if her secret identity were to be revealed to the public. The world would have a new celebrity and Gwen would have a target on her back...as well as her loved ones.
Gwen had half a mind to go to the radio station where Jameson broadcasted and strangle his neck for all the rhetoric that poured from his mouth about her. Jameson had a nightly show on one of the lower-end A.M. station. Who listened to A.M. radio nowadays?
Jameson was only a thorn in her side: A minor nuisance if that. Gwen's list of enemies must've decided to have the odd night off.
Gwen walked to the far end of the roof when something captured her attention in the night sky. It was partly cloudy but it was easy to spot what looked to be a meteor heading for Central Park. Gwen shook her head. The meteor couldn't be that close. Meteors always looked close but were miles away.
Gwen sighed as she leapt from the roof. She was in free fall for perhaps twenty seconds when she shot out a web and started to swing towards Central Park which was in the opposite direction from her apartment.
Gwen got to Central Park within five minutes. The meteor had landed in the center of the park minutes earlier. There was no explosion of impact, no fiery mushroom cloud erupting from the impact, no people screaming in panic. It was as if the meteor didn't make a hard impact at all....which could only mean that it wasn't an ordinary meteor.
Gwen landed on the ground some seven minutes later at more or less in the middle of the park. There was definitely an impact crater but not a big one. It was twenty feet in diameter.
Gwen cautiously walked to the crater and looked into it. A small asteroid the size of a refrigerator was in the middle of the crater. There were small fires here and there but not enough to account for such an impact.
Gwen saw it crawling from the crater before it suddenly leapt onto her. The thing landed on her midsection. The thing was a black mass that looked like Jello. The thing had been a lump when it was on the ground but it had flattened out once it made contact with Gwen. In moments, it was easy to tell that the black goo was spreading rapidly.
"What the hell?!" asked Gwen as she fruitlessly tried to pull the gunk off of her. The black mass refused to let go of her. The black mass held on to Gwen's body with hundreds of tiny tendrils.
"Get off of me!" shouted Gwen as the black mass proceeded to cover her entire body. Gwen just couldn't stop the black mass from covering her body from head to foot. The mass partially covered her head when it had finally stopped spreading.
Gwen sighed with relief that turned into a wail of surprise when she felt....something....enter her mind.
We are Venom
The voice was harsh and inhuman. The voice came from within her head.
We have found a host already. Most excellent
"Who....what are you?!" asked Gwen as she saw that the black mass had merged with her superhero outfit.
We are Venom. We are a symbiotic parasite that requires a host to live within.
"This is my body, not yours!" yelled Gwen. "get off!"
We now share this body with you, Gwen Stacey
How did this thing know her name?!
We know everything that you know, Gwen Stacey. We are one. We are Gwen Stacey
"Well, lookie at who we have here" said a male voice from somewhere behind her. "if it isn't Spider Woman herself. Let's go greet the spider, fellas"
Gwen turned in the direction of the voice. Ten men all armed with axes or poles were surrounding the crater.
Good. We were starving. It was a long trip
Wha--
The black mass went to completely cover the head of Gwen. Gwen's vision got ten times better. She could see in the dark...after a fashion. It was more like Gwen could see in heat vision.
Gwen shot out a dark web that was unlike Gwen's usual webbing. It wrapped around the man who had spoken. The man was barely able to voice his shock when he was jerked forcefully towards Gwen\Venom. As soon as the man was right up next to Gwen, Gwen had opened her mouth monstrously wide and chowed down on the man. The man was gulped down in three large bites.
Gwen was both horrified and oddly turned on which totally filled her with loathing. She had actually liked doing that! The man was totally delicious! Without thinking on just how wrong it felt to eat people, Gwen\Venom had simply leapt to the next thug. This time, though, Gwen licked at the man's head with a very alien tongue. Gwen spent a moment licking the man, savoring the taste and absolutely relishing the fear in the man's eyes. The man was gulped down in two gulps.
When Venom had merged with Gwen, her body had undergone a change. Gwen now was eight feet tall and easily towered over her victims. The other men tried to escape, of course, but they didn't get that far. It took Gwen a total of three minutes to eat all the men that had assembled there.
When all was done, Gwen\Venom sported a huge gut that was almost five feet in diameter!
Gwen shook her head violently. No! This wasn't her! She didn't eat people!
We eat people. We eat meat. We eat whatever we wish. We are Venom but we are also Gwen Stacey
The black mass that had engulfed Gwen's head retreated and uncovered her head.
"We had better get out of here" said Gwen.

Gwen shot out a web and was able to lift up from the ground despite her weight.
Within ten minutes, Gwen landed on the roof of her apartment building. She walked towards the door that led to the roof. Here she belched loudly. The sound was inhuman and it echoed throughout the night.
"Um...I won't be able to fit in the door...much less my apartment" said Gwen.
Suddenly, Gwen shrank back to her original height but she still had a fat gut. It wasn't nearly as big as it had been but it was impressive.
We are a shape-shifter. We can grow many times the size of the tallest building. Or even tallest mountain
Venom provided Gwen with a mental picture of her towering over Mt. Everest. The tallest mountain in the world didn't even reach her knees in the mental image!
All traces of Venom were gone from Gwen's body; she now appeared more or less normal. Gwen had bigger muscles to go with her big gut. Gwen caught her reflection in the skylight of the roof. She was even more beautiful than before. Gwen headed for her apartment.
