Deciding not to return home to do so – least his mother, drunken or otherwise, might ambush him – James took the time to ponder the neighbors he knew would be okay with him using their shower.
Angie was the first one that came to mind, but as he didn’t see her in her garden, and remembered her pained expression yesterday, he didn’t want to disturb her while she was in such a pained state. Perhaps tomorrow he would go see if she could use his help around the house, but asking anything of her at the moment, even if insignificant, simply felt wrong to the boy. He crossed her name from the mental list.
He finally came down to two: Denise Washington (https://www.writing.com/main/interactive...) or Maria Deleon (https://www.writing.com/main/interactive...).
Both women were so kind and caring to him. He was positive either of them would have no problem with him using their shower for a little bit. Plus he could even offer to help them with any chores they might have in exchange for it, provided said chores wouldn’t cut into his timetable.
Now, who would he choose…
