You listen passively as she walks through the mall. Sometimes she walks briskly, and sometimes she stops and slowly paces as if browsing around a store. You are left in the dark (literally) only able to guess at what she’s doing.

Eventually, she sets her purse down, lets the light shine in on you by unzipping her purse, and takes you out. She plops you onto a large bench next to her in what appears to be a changing room. She plops a few doll-sized clothing items in front of you.

“I have a few outfits for you to try on,” she explains. “You’re current attire will get worn quickly if it’s the only clothes we have for you.”

You look reluctantly at the clothes she’s laid out in front of you. The first outfit is a miniaturized polo and khaki pants that the Ken doll frequently wear. She looks down at you expectantly. You don’t want to do this though, but seeing her waiting face, you realize it might be easiest to just comply. You take off your clothes and put it on. It fits but is stiff: they cut the clothes for a barbie, not an actual tiny human, so it tugs at you while you try to walk around. She marvels at it, making you realize that it’s going to be a keeper.

The next outfit is a campy sailor costume: a white hat, synchronized navy blue shirt and pants, and a white neckerchief to match the hat. You gasp at it and really don’t want to put it on. She points at it insistently.
