Anne’s mom ponders for a few moments, and says, “You’re too young for such a big responsibility. Maybe we can start you off with an easier pet like a hamster or a hermit crab and build from there.”
“But Mom,” she whines.
Her mom will have none of it. You begin to turn around and express your gratitude to this woman who saved you from a life suffering as her little girls pet, but when you do, you see her giant grinning face staring right back down on you.
“No,” she contines to Anne. “He’s a pet for an adult. I’ll take care of him.”
Before you or she can give either of your objections, she drops you into her purse and zips it up.
“Now, we need to line up to board,” her mom announces. “Let’s go.”
