The giant woman slid you into the breast pocket of her blazer. You couldn’t believe how big the pocket was compared to you. You heard the sound of a phone ringing and realized the woman was using her phone to make a call. Your ‘93 Corolla didn’t have such capability, but based on how she was dressed you imagined she was driving something much nicer.
“Hey June, what’s up?” you heard the voice on the other end of the phone say.
“Hello Marissa. I’m on my way back now. Can you have the files for the Stanton case on my desk waiting?”
“Sure will, anything else?”
“Yes, gather Brenda and Erica, I have something I want to show you.”
“Will do boss, see you soon.”
So the giant woman’s name was June. You assumed she was in law based on the fact she was talking about a case. And you guessed the something she wanted to show everyone was you. You wondered what your role at a law office could possibly be.
You could see up out of the pocket, and could see June’s face. She looked ahead stoically, you were impressed in this day and age someone paid attention to the road while driving. You watched as she lifted a yeti cup to her lips and took a drink. You chuckled to yourself imagining how deep the liquid would be if you took a swim in the cup.
You sat down in June’s pocket and and wondered if this would be it. Would you always be an inch tall? Was there any hope of getting back to normal? You imagined those were answers June wouldn’t have, or even have an interest in having. And you doubted you’d ever see Jen again.
You felt motion and looked up, and realized June was exiting the car. You heard the door shut, and watched as the giant woman stuck a cigarette in her mouth and lit it.
“Gross,” you said to yourself. You hated smoking. She stopped walking and you could tell you were under shade, so you assumed you were at the entrance. She casually smoked while glancing down, and you imagined she was on her phone letting people know she was now the proud owner of an inch tall man. Is that the kind of thing you share with people? How often does this happen? Jen had implied she had shrunk people before. How many times had you passed by people on the street with a tiny person in their pocket and you didn’t even know?
