The brass lamp felt unnaturally cool in your hand, a stark contrast to the stale, warm air of your garage. You’d been clearing out the last of your ex-wife’s forgotten things, a chore of quiet bitterness, when you found it tucked behind a broken power tool. Now, standing in your silent living room, you gave it an idle rub with your thumb, cleaning away the grime.

Smoke, thick and sweet as incense, plumed from the spout. It coiled in the air, condensing into the shape of a woman. Her skin was the warm brown of honeyed coffee, and her hair fell in a cascade of obsidian curls over her bare shoulders. She was draped in silks of sapphire and gold that did little to conceal a body of impossible, lush curves. Her dark eyes, lined with kohl, held a millennia of amused secrets.

“Well,” she said, her voice a low hum that vibrated in your chest. “It has been a long time. You may call me Zara. And you are my new master.” She floated closer, the scent of sandalwood and spice wrapping around you. “You have three wishes. Use them wisely.”

You stared, your mouth dry. The divorce had left you feeling hollowed out, invisible. Now, this breathtaking creature was looking at you like you were the center of the universe. Your gaze traveled over her, from her full, red lips down to the generous swell of her hips. A desperate, lonely ache you’d suppressed for months flared into a sharp, specific hunger.

Zara followed your gaze, a slow, knowing smile gracing her lips. “I see,” she purred. “That is a common… starting point. But are you certain? Power, wealth, vengeance… all are within your grasp.” She gestured vaguely at your modest, slightly shabby home. “You could wish for a palace.”

But you weren’t looking at the shabby furniture anymore. You were looking at her. The wish was forming in your mind, a selfish, primal need to feel desired, to feel powerful in a way you hadn't in years. The genie watched you, her expression one of patient, tantalizing expectation.
