You forced a smile. “Alright, Marcus. I’ll play along.”
Relief softened his face. “Good. I knew you were smart.”
But as he walked you through preparations, something in you hardened. Marcus wasn’t asking for partnership—he was asking for obedience. He’d drag you down with him, consequences be damned.
So you played your part. You helped load biometric profiles. You helped calibrate the Core. You nodded at all the right places. But when Marcus wasn’t looking, you rewrote the overlays—subtle, invisible changes. Enough to ensure the Core would map him not to Camille or Miriam, but to a body chosen at random.
When the chamber flared and Marcus emerged, the result stole your breath.
He staggered forward in four-inch heels, towering, breasts heaving against a too-tight bodysuit. His new body was similar to Camille’s, but different and exaggerated—hips wider, lips fuller, cleavage obscene. He clutched his chest in panic, voice a breathless soprano.
“You bastard,” he hissed.
You folded your arms, grinning. “Guess you’re going in alone.”
Marcus glared, fury and humiliation warring across his flawless face. But he couldn’t back out now. Verena was arriving in less than twelve hours.
And you would be watching—safe, intact—while Marcus tried to sell the future of human transformation in stilettos and a dress that didn’t quite fit.
