Kitchen Ken Goddess Ruler (A GTS Story) chapter 5 by copier · original author: penslayer5

Ken returned from upstairs to find his grandmother seated in the living room with a good book in her hand. She was always reading or doing something dinosaurs like her did in the before time. She was just so old school and mostly refused to assimilate into the digital age along with everyone else. If it weren't for him and his sister, then she wouldn't even own a smartphone or laptop.

With a roll of his eyes, he coughed into his fist to gain her attention. That seemed to do the trick as she looked up from whatever page she was on to acknowledge his presence. "I'm here obviously, so what do you want me to do exactly?"

He really hoped she wasn't going to make him go outside and chop wood again like the last time he was sent to stay with her. He hated chopping wood. It was just so dull and boring. He'd rather be stuck inside studying for a test than chopping wood like a lumberjack.

"Eager to get to work I see. I suppose that's a good start." Kamui spoke aloud. She then pointed her finger towards the kitchen. "You can get started by preparing a lunch for the two of us. After that we can discuss why you've been acting like such a brat as of late."

Ken bristled a little bit at the brat comment but wisely chose to keep his mouth shut. At least sensei was willing to listen to his side of the story whenever he was sent her way. "Is there anything in particular that you wanted?"

"Not really. It's up to you what you'd like to prepare. Just don't make a complete mess of my kitchen." Kamui stated before returning to her book. She didn't care what Ken made just so long as he put some effort into it. She knew for a fact he knew how to cook.

"Got it." He grumbled before trekking towards the kitchen. At least it was more modern that other parts of the house he remembered. The only reason the kitchen was as up to date as it was was because of his father. He insisted nonstop that Gran get an air fryer.

After rummaging around for a bit like a raccoon, Ken had a few good choices of what to make. Something fancy might be good, but then there was also the risk of making a huge mess. He was a little out practice cooking and depending on muscle memory this could either turn out well or poorly for him.

Then again, he could also make something quick and easy. There was much less risk of making a mess, but the downside was that his grandmother would know he didn't put in any real effort like she wanted him too. This sucked. Why did people over forty have to be such a pain?

As Ken wrestled with his thoughts, Kamui pondered what her grandson would make for lunch. Just as long as he put some effort in, she wouldn't really care but if he half assed it then she would count that as strike three against him. "For your sake Ken, do you best."
