"I'm eager to get started as well. When we get home, I expect you to pack your bags because you and I are going on a little family vacation."
Sakurai's smile must have been infectious because Rei herself couldn't help but return it. She knew exactly what her father really meant when he said family vacation.
"So, we're really going there?"
"That's right." Sakurai confirmed. "I expect you to pack a bag because it's going to be a long flight and the weather in Hawaii is absolutely gorgeous."
Rei gave her father her best salute. "Yes sir!"
Sakurai found himself ruffling the girl's blue locks playfully. She was just as eager as he was to get his little project underway.
For too long Haruka had been allowed to move unchecked and constantly squandered her powers doing the bare minimum. If she wouldn't join the military or do more, then they'll just create their own icon.
Rei, his daughter, would become the true symbol of hope that Japan and eventually the rest of the world would need.
______
Once the pair had gotten home and finished packing up for a trip, they were driven to the airport to board Sakurai's private jet.
Rei was in stunned that her father owned his own private plane, but then came to the conclusion that she shouldn't have been. He was rich after all from military service and his own personal business ventures.
With nothing but time on her hands, the soon to be savior of Japan reclined in her seat as the plane glided through the air. The plane itself was very nice and had a ton of snacks, as well as a built in tv.
Her father had fallen asleep with his Walkman on since he couldn't use his phone at the moment. Since he was out she decided to turn on the tv. What she saw on screen brought a frown to her face.
It was Haruka on that god awful tv show that her father said couldn't crack a million views. She was smiling like goof playing the role of a hungry giant in the Middle Ages.
"What a waste." Rei muttered. She thought about changing the channel but instead let the episode run. It would only serve to remind her why she needed to become a true hero.
She would be better than Haruka. Better in every way.
"I will be better than you."
