Ethan Quinn crouched beneath a jungle of wires and glowing circuits, a soldering iron clenched between his teeth like some mad scientist pirate. His bedroom looked less like a teenage boy’s sanctuary and more like a scrapyard glued together with caffeine and wild ambition. Half-disassembled drones, old game consoles, and a gutted toaster lined his desk, all orbiting around the crown jewel: his prototype.

“This is it, baby,” he muttered, twisting a loose bolt. “Tonight, you’re gonna blow those nerds at the science fair straight outta the gym.”

The device didn’t look like much—a few stray buttons were all that distinguished it from an ordinary TV remote. But inside its humming core, Ethan swore the future waited. The “Morphisizer,” as he’d proudly christened it, could map someone’s body and rewrite it, molecule by molecule, into anyone else. At least, in theory. So far, it had only managed to turn a potted plant into something that looked like a wet loaf of bread, and his goldfish had survived its “upgrade” with an extra tail.

Soon it would be time to officially give the machine a real test. But who should he test it on?
