Jonas stood in the middle of Coastal Costumes & Curiosities, surrounded by racks of fabric and plastic armor and wigs in every color imaginable. The shopkeeper — the silver-haired woman who'd introduced herself as Margie — had directed him to a back corner labeled "Gender-Neutral & Unisex."

This is more like it.

The first thing he spotted was a Jedi robe. Heavy brown fabric, wide sleeves, a hood that could swallow his face. It was simple, iconic, and completely hid the shape of his body underneath. He ran his fingers over the fabric — it was coarse but sturdy, like something that would actually hold up to a day of walking around a convention.

I could be a Jedi. No one would know I'm a woman under this.

He pulled it off the rack and held it up against himself. It hung past his knees, the hem brushing his calves. The color was a deep, dusty brown — almost maroon in the dim shop light. It came with a matching belt and a light-up lightsaber clipped to the hanger.

Next to it hung a long black coat — the kind of thing a vampire hunter or a noir detective might wear. It had high collar, silver buttons, and interior pockets that looked deep enough to hold his phone, wallet, and a water bottle. A tag on the sleeve read "Blade Runner / Cyberpunk Inspired."

Jonas touched it, feeling the weight of the fabric. It was lined with something soft — satin, maybe — and the cut was sharp, angular. It would make him look tall. Imposing. And completely covered.

This one's good too.

He looked further down the rack. A full-length cloak in forest green, with a brass clasp shaped like a leaf. A simple tunic-and-pants set that could pass for a fantasy RPG character. A hooded sweater with a stylized wolf emblem on the chest — not really a costume, but close enough to a Legend of Zelda or Elder Scrolls vibe that it would work in a pinch.

Margie's voice drifted over from the counter. "Find anything you like, hon?"

"Yeah," Jonas said, holding up the Jedi robe. "This one's tempting. How much?"

"Sixty-five for the full set. That includes the belt and the lightsaber."

Jonas winced. That was more than he'd wanted to spend, but it was a full costume. And it would cover everything.

He looked at the black coat again. Then at the cloak. Then back at the Jedi robe.

Which one feels like me?
