The crowd had finally dispersed, leaving behind churned mud, upturned folding chairs, and the lingering scent of beer and barbecue. Nate stumbled out of the pit, covered in streaks of brown and aching in muscles he didn’t even know Brandy Lynn had. His stolen body was humming—exhausted and exhilarated in equal measure.
He followed the path behind the bleachers to the women’s locker tent. Nobody batted an eye; he belonged here, for now.
Inside, the tent was strung with flickering battery-powered lights, casting a warm, low glow across the rows of benches and mesh lockers. The air was thick with steam from the portable showers in the back, the sound of running water mingling with muffled giggles and the occasional slap of wet flip-flops on rubber mats.
Danielle was already there, her mud-caked top peeled off and tossed onto a bench. Nate froze for a beat, caught in the hypnotic vision of her back—muscular and glistening, beads of water running down the ridges of her spine and the curve of her waist. She wore only a black thong now, her bare skin slick and golden under the misty lights.
She glanced over her shoulder and caught him staring.
“You comin’, cowgirl?” she asked with a lazy smile. “Or just here to admire the view?”
Nate coughed and yanked off Brandy’s knotted shirt, pretending not to notice the bounce of her chest as the fabric came loose. “Yeah, yeah, I’m coming,” he muttered, stepping gingerly into the communal shower space.
The warm spray hit him like a slap and a sigh all at once. Mud sluiced off in thick streams, revealing Brandy Lynn’s golden, tanned skin underneath. He ran his hands over her arms, her waist, and then—hesitated. Chest. Brandy’s chest.
He’d seen it earlier in the mirror, he’d felt it bouncing during the match, but now under the hot water, his hands soapy and alone, the experience was… different. Intimate. Almost reverent.
Danielle sidled up beside him, completely casual, running shampoo through her thick braids. “You handled yourself pretty good out there,” she said. “Didn’t expect you to keep up.”
Nate smiled sheepishly. “Guess I had some motivation.”
She turned to him, eyes glittering. “You like wrestling, Brandy Lynn?”
He swallowed. “I think I’m starting to.”
They stood close—water rushing down their bodies, slick skin barely inches apart. Danielle’s hand brushed his hip. Innocent? Maybe. Maybe not.
“I’ll tell you a secret,” she said softly, leaning closer. “Sometimes I lose on purpose. Just to see who’ll come celebrate afterward.”
Nate’s breath hitched. Brandy Lynn’s chest rose and fell in tight rhythm.
“So,” Danielle said, stepping away with a wink, “you better come find me later. Don’t let me down, cowgirl.”
She turned and disappeared into the mist, her hips swaying, leaving Nate flushed, soapy, and thoroughly dazed under the shower spray.
