Eli ran down the stairs, boobs bouncing, thighs slapping just a little with every frantic step. He tugged the hoodie tighter, but the bottom still rode up, flashing toned tan legs and a peek of pink shorts. In his first lucky break of the last 24 hours, his mom was still sleeping and didn't see her son race out of the house looking like a teenage sexpot.
Eli reached the door just as the bus honked.
“Coming!” he called—Sabrina’s voice bright, perky, absurdly chipper even in panic.
He nearly tripped climbing on. Then immediately wished he had tripped—because every head turned. Eyes locked on him. Or rather, on her. Boys blinked, girls narrowed their eyes, and someone definitely elbowed someone else.
Eli forced a smile. “Heyyyy.”
No one questioned it. Of course not. Why would they? He looked like Sabrina Cross. Why wouldn’t Sabrina Cross be riding the bus? He took an empty seat and tried to breathe through it.
Okay, he thought, objective: survive one day. Behave like Sabrina. Don’t draw attention. Figure out where the hell my real body is and how to get back into it.
Then someone sat next to him. A senior. Zack Montgomery. Six-foot-three football captain. Strong jaw. Kinda dumb. Definitely hot.
“Hey, Sabrina,” Zack said with a grin. “Damn, girl. You lookin’ extra fine this morning.”
Eli blinked. “Uh—thanks. Just... woke up hot, I guess?”
Zack laughed. “Always do.”
He put a hand on her—his—leg. Eli stiffened. The heat of it, the electric contact, went straight to his brain. This body reacted on its own. Instinctively. Hormones firing like crazy.
Zack leaned in closer. “You skipping homeroom? Wanna, y’know... chill out under the bleachers before first period?”
Eli’s heart pounded. He was a nerd in a girl’s body being hit on by the school’s most alpha jock—and he had no idea what Sabrina normally said to this guy. His thighs squeezed together on instinct.
“Uh... maybe?”
Eli spotted salvation halfway down the aisle—his best friend Max, hunched over his phone, earbuds in, hoodie up, legs splayed like he owned the bus. Thank God.
Eli practically threw himself into the empty seat next to him, heart pounding, boobs jiggling obnoxiously. Zack called something after him—probably “See you at lunch, babe!”—but Eli was already burying his face in his hands.
Max pulled an earbud out and glanced sideways. “Heyyy... Sabrina Cross? Since when do you sit with—wait a sec.” His eyes narrowed. “You’ve never sat with me in your entire life. You called me a ‘gremlin with good cheekbones’ last semester.”
Eli hissed under his breath. “Shut up and listen. It’s me. Eli.”
Max blinked.
Then blinked again.
“Okay,” he whispered, leaning closer. “No seriously, what the actual fuck?”
“I’ll explain. I built the resonance prototype, it malfunctioned, and now I’m... this.” Eli gestured vaguely to his generous chest.
Max stared at him. Then at the boobs. Then back at him.
“Holy shit. You turned yourself into Sabrina Cross.”
“Not on purpose! I was running a calibration test and—look, I don’t know, okay? I was just... kinda daydreaming and she must’ve been on my mind and boom. Swap.”
“You’re wearing pink shorts,” Max said, pointing. “Like, hot-pink. With that ass, bro, people are gonna get whiplash.”
“MAX.”
“Sorry, sorry! Just—processing.” He glanced around, lowering his voice. “Does she know? Where’s your body?”
Eli shrugged helplessly. “No idea. Haven’t seen her. She could be at home, asleep. Or she could be in my body and already at school. We have to blend in until I figure this out.”
Max nodded slowly, clearly enjoying this way too much.
“Oh, I got you. I’ll be your incognito handler. Secret agent sidekick. Personal perv deterrent. What’s the game plan? Pretend you’re Sabrina all day? You do have her walk down.”
“I’m learning on the job.”
Max gave him a sly smile. “You gonna keep the voice all day too? Kinda hot, not gonna lie.”
Eli elbowed him—gently, but those new arms had tone. “Just help me avoid real-Sabrina, and keep people off my back.”
Max slung an arm around him like they were just two friends goofing around.
“I got you, girl. Let’s go fake your entire life.”
The bus hit a pothole, and Eli bounced—a lot.
Max let out a snort.
“This is gonna be so much fun.”
_______
Eli adjusted the hoodie again as they walked up to the school entrance, Sabrina’s impossibly curvy form squished into clothes not meant for subtlety. Her bare legs turned heads.
“This is the worst idea you’ve ever supported,” Eli muttered.
“And also the best,” Max grinned. “You know how many guys would sell their kidneys to be in your shoes right now?”
“Yeah, but I actually have her shoes on. And they’re like... micro platform sandals. My ankles hate me.”
They entered the building. Max walked just slightly ahead, whispering as they passed groups.
“Okay, so far, no sign of actual Sabrina. I checked her Snap—nothing posted since last night. Maybe she’s not in school today.”
“Or maybe she’s in my body and hiding in a locker somewhere.”
Max snorted. “Let’s hope she’s not jerking it with your hands.”
“Max!”
“What? Equal opportunity perversion.”
They made it to Sabrina’s locker, which Max had already Googled. Eli leaned into it, trying to look natural. Hair falling in waves. Hips shifting with every move. Even standing still felt different. Center of gravity higher. Breasts just there, bouncing slightly every time someone brushed past.
A girl walked by. “Hey, Sabrina.”
Eli blinked. “Uh... hey!”
Max leaned close. “Nice save. Now get to first period. It’s Chem with Mr. D’Angelo. You sit in back, don’t talk, and if someone tries to flirt—laugh and say you’re texting your boyfriend.”
“Do I have a boyfriend?”
Max shrugged. “Honestly, who doesn’t want to date Sabrina?”
As they rounded the corner, a wave of cold fear hit Eli.
Because walking down the opposite hall, in a hoodie and jeans that definitely weren’t hers, was... Eli. His real body. Looking panicked. Eyes scanning the hall. And then their eyes met. Hers. His. Whatever.
“Oh crap,” Eli whispered.
Max grinned. “Well. This just got fun.”
