By the side of a road that cut through the woods there was a tavern, one with a reputation. Gwendolyn the thief walked up to the building and stepped inside. Her entrance caught the attention of a few patrons, rugged eyes leering at her. She scanned the numerous vagabonds looking for someone in particular.
She spotted him and took a seat next to him at the bar. As the barkeep came over to her, she glanced at him a said. “Give me an ale.”
“Do you have it?” The man next to her asked with his gravelly voice. She glared at him and growled. “Who do you think I am.” She took out the gem and slid it onto the counter. In response the man slid over a satchel filled with coins and took the gem.
He pocketed it away, took a swig of his flagon and said. “couldn’t have been easy.” The barkeep brought Gwen her ale which she accepted. “It wasn’t but nothing I couldn’t handle.” She said taking a swig.
Inside the thief the fairy watched their exchange with great interest, it was very intriguing, very cloak and dagger. Noticing her taking a drink the fairy thought quickly and used his magic to get a taste of the incoming ale. He drank his fill and enjoyed the show even more.
“Pleasure doing business with you Gwendolyn.” She took a swig of her ale and replied. “The pleasure was all UUURRRRPPP!!!” A sudden unexpected belch erupted from the thief’s mouth interrupting her and making her blush furiously. All around the tavern could be heard laughs, cheers, chuckles and even a few words of praise. The client bowed out from the embarrassing event and Gwen returned to her drink, trying to ignore the uproar her outburst caused.
“You okay Gwen?” The barkeep asked with concern. “I’m fine Dorrin, just something I ate.” She said dismissively as she took another swig. “Thanks for the tip.” She said tossing him a few coins. “Well you get the job done and people like that.” He said pocketing the money, Gwen got up from the counter and stretched. “my usual room.” She said tossing him a few more coins.
Gwendolyn headed for her room upstairs, ignoring the occasional amused patron pointing at her or giving her a thumbs up.
