You don't know how long Juli slept. You may have fallen asleep at some point during the night, but it was hard to tell because you had no way of measuring time. You couldn't even tell when the sun came up. You figured either Juli had a crazy stalker or it was Kim coming to get you. Terrified, you crawled under Juli’s dress. Kim kept on viciously yanking at the locker door and for a moment it looked like the locker might give. Then abruptly, she gave up. You heard the sound of heavy breathing on the other side of the locker door – it sounded like she was very angry. She stood there briefly, and then you heard her leave abruptly, her heavy footfalls growing more distant.
You spent what felt like hours in the darkness of the locker, afraid that at any moment Kim might return to get you. Slowly the time crawled by. You didn’t dare emerge from the cover provided by the dress. What if Kim came back? What if was back already and was waiting to pull open the locker door and shout “Surprise!”?
