For the next two minutes you suffered through being ground further into the treads of the bus driver’s shoes, as she tried to better conceal you from your roommate’s frantic searching which was getting closer and closer to your hiding place under her foot. You silently cried out to them, but your mangled body could make no sounds.
Quinn was the first to finish her job of finding out if any of the girls had managed to catch you. Her deadpan face and annoyed scowls were enough to intimidate most of the women into telling the truth and she determined that none of them had caught you, moving on to help Avery look for you on the floor after that.
Their search also proved fruitless, and after two minutes they both looked to Morgan, who had been searching the front of the bus for you and only had the area around the driver left to check.
Janice had been eying the clock like a hawk, praying for time to move faster. She had began to panic as she saw Morgan get closer to her, but a smile crept up from the corners of her mouth as she saw the clock tick over once again, time was up. She quickly hid her grin, before turning to Morgan with a look of faux concern.
“Sorry girls, times up. Sorry but I’ve got a schedule to keep,” she was straining to keep her grin from reemerging, but must have done a bad job at it because Morgan looked at her with confusion.
“Why are you in such a rush to have us off this bus? Most drivers would have just shrugged and drove on with us still on board, are you hiding something?” Hearing Morgan say this, Quinn and Avery approached.
“N-no, why? How could I have him?” Janice was not a good lier under pressure, and the tone of her voice was starting to give her away.
“Because you wanted him to fly out of Morgan’s hand. Why else would you have hit the breaks?” Quinn’s flat tone of voice did not match the brimming anger in her eyes, she realised now what was going on. “Just hand him over and we won’t have to report you.”
Janice opened her mouth to respond, but thought better of it, she was already on thin ice with her supervisor and didn’t need any more trouble. She lifted her foot up and began prying you loose with her fingernail. There was a brief moment that you feared she wouldn’t actually be able to get you out, but that fear was placated as you felt your body slip out from between the tight treads.
Your body slipped out as a long, thin piece of string, having been tightly compacted into a single tread of her shoe. One of your eyes was still visible so you could look up at your would be kidnapper. Her face had an expression similar to a child who got caught shoplifting, as she glumly handed your stringy form over to Quinn, who wordlessly grabbed you from the bus driver with a cold glare.
Your three giantess friends exited the bus without another word, and it pulled away, leaving you all to look up at the C.T.C office building. As you were now in the shadow of the building, knowing that the woman who had caused you so much hardship was inside and that you would have to see her soon, you shuddered.
Quinn, feeling your shivering body vibrate against her hand, looked down at you reassuringly before looking up at the building again and walking towards it, determined to help you out of this situation.
Your anxiety shot through the roof as Quinn walked through the double doors into the stuffy reception hall of the C.T.C office building. There was a long line to talk to the single, very bored looking receptionist. Quinn let out a heavy sigh and joined the back of the line while you saw Morgan and Avery sit down in the seating area, looking bored already. A few moments after joining the line your body popped back into shape, allowing you to look around.
As you looked at the other people standing in the line you noticed a similar trend between all of them. All of them either had tiny men with them or had some kind of tan clothing on display. You started considering your own situation and wondered how many of the men here had been assigned usage licenses against their will. Even further how many had their licenses assigned by the very woman you were trying to speak to, Isabella.
Baker’s Law, in your opinion, had done more harm than good. The woman who managed to push it through seemed to have noble intentions, but the law she helped create may very well have ruined your life, and possibly the lives of many of the other guys in this room.
Deep in thought you strangely seemed to blame Amy Baker more than Isabella herself, which you realised was stupid and shook yourself out of it. Looking back around the room you saw that the line had moved up a lot while you were thinking and you and Quinn were almost at the front. Realising this, you began to panic slightly, the thought of seeing Isabella again making you incredibly anxious.
Seeing your distress, Quinn looked down at you.
“Listen Hunter, I know you’re worried about this, but you need to get your head in the game here. We’ll be here to back you up but in the end it’s you that’s in this situation so you are going to have to put in the work to get out of it,” Quinn’s small speech knocked you out of your doom and gloom attitude.
“Yeah you’re right Quinn, thanks.”
Quinn gave a small nod before continuing, “And don’t worry, we’ll be in there with you to make sure she doesn’t do anything underhanded... you’re a pretty nice guy and I don’t want to see anything bad happen to you if I can help it.”
You were about to reply to Quinn, but the line suddenly moved forward and Quinn was called forward to the reception desk.
Quinn approached the desk, where a young woman sat, appearing bored out of her mind. As Quinn began to speak to her you could see her eyes drifting to the clock on the far wall every now and then, clearly counting the minutes till her shift ends.
“I’m here with my friend Hunter Woods, he was issued a general usage license against his will and we need to speak to the notary who issued it, Isabella Brooks.”
The bored receptionist looked up at Quinn, obviously disinterested in this conversation mere moments into it.
“... Ok give me a minute, I’ll check if she’s in right now...”
1) “...Yup she’s got an available slot now, you and your friends can go on in.” You all go in to meet with Isabella.
2) “...Ah yes, she’s expecting you, go on in.” Isabella has had time to prepare, how will this affect your chances of removing the license.
3) “...Sorry she’s not in at the moment, you’ll need to come back at another time.” You and your roommates need to leave and come back later, maybe gives time for them to do some research or writer’s choice.
