God, you're bored but...what was there to do? It has been nearly a month since you got out of that awful situation. You'd figure life would seem...brighter? More exciting? Certainly, better than whatever was going to happen to you had you not finally gotten those dimwits to listen to you. You were currently back at your family home...a rather large home. It was no closely guarded secret that your mother and father were...well... well off. Not stinking rich but they can certainly afford the nicer things. As such, they really enjoyed their trips off to Barbados, the Bahamas, the Maldives, and etcetera which typically left this house they supposedly live in almost perpetually empty. Which is why you were currently laid out on an ottoman, staring at your 1950's era popcorn ceiling, and listening to some trash television. This sort of life...well you credit it for the reason why you were a people person. When you're alone at home so much, you start craving some human contact. Growing up, you had gained popularity with your gregarious nature with just about anyone and enmity from those you couldn't get along with. That was all normal for you...leaving this house was supposed to be the moment when you wouldn't have to worry about the times you'd get to feel good and the times you'd get to be bored. All your "formers” ruined that. Former girlfriend, former evil roommate...former...mother-in-law? Whatever had ruined all that. Going outside had become a bit scary. Mackenzie's final words shouldn't be ignored; she hated you now. So would her mother. If you didn't live in a gated community and with a nice home security system, you'd be legitimately afraid they'd come for you.
Those threats and the CTC...what a kerfuffle that was. When the three of you started to visit the CTC with the purpose of removing all that licensing bullshit, you apparently shook up a hornet’s nest. Apparently, some big shot activist was there on behalf of someone else and had overheard your conversation with an agent there. You were haranguing them with questions on why your consent had never been asked for and yet you were somehow bound by contract which was highly illegal...for everyone except tinies that is. You hadn't provided a signature, a guardian's signature...nothing and yet they had happily processed it all automatically through that stupid app. The agent, for her part, kept up some bullshit deflection strategy; about how "processing can take longer for tinies so it's better to get the paperwork down with the intention of filling out any missing consent forms later." Which was all horseshit. They never could explain the WHEN; only that it was important to "respect tiny rights" by processing it quickly. That bigshot activist broke in at that point...you only barely remember his name now. Apparently, he wanted your story which you decided to give. Olivia and Elizabeth had been watching from behind, their faces twisted in sadness. As you had begun recounting the events that led you here, you heard them starting to cry; you decided to tell the activist that you can complete the interview later over the phone and gave him your phone number. For his part, he took your number and headed back to his original party.
That simple exchange had caused the agent to be more…accommodating? Maybe she was scared? The endless questions of “Are you certain you no longer wish to be an object? Have you fully considered the ramifications of canceling this license? Reprocessing you could take longer as former licensees are forced to the back of the queue in most cases” abruptly stopped. Suddenly it was all business on the proper means to cancel the license. It required you and Elizabeth to sign…so many forms. Which was probably not helped by you reading through every single one and ensuring no funny business was happening…which nearly happened at least once. There was a form about a “future provisional license” which would only take place six months from now after “some time to consider the past.” Basically, they assumed you’d regret undoing the license. Legalese, the world’s worst language. You quickly informed Elizabeth to check the no box on that one. In addition to this, there were three required follow up appointments, all a week apart to make sure that everyone was “satisfied.” Those appointments were incredibly awkward…Elizabeth and, to her credit, Olivia made sure to show up to every single one. Each one, it seemed like Olivia had wanted to speak with you for a longer period, but you had shut it down each time…a bit brusquely. You didn’t learn much from her during that time…except for learning that she was no longer rooming with Mackenzie. She let you know that her conversations with Mackenzie had been very tough. Apparently, Mackenzie had tried to lie herself out of the situation, but Olivia had been obstinate and kept up her interrogation to the point that Mackenzie, frustrated, blurted out the truth to her. Things didn’t go well from there; Olivia had shut down Mackenzie’s advances. She just wanted to be friends. While this did give you some satisfaction to hear, you didn’t keep up the conversation with her at the time.
Olivia…it would be a lie to say you didn’t have feelings for her anymore. The sweet Olivia, the thoughtful Olivia…even the clumsy one that would plaster you against her in some manner. After all this, you still loved every facet of her. However, that doesn’t mean you can just up and forgive her. You don’t want her to think that things can just blow over. Your life was nearly ruined; it is very important to remember that. You both needed time apart to properly digest everything that had went wrong. This would be the best for the both of you. When you’re both ready…well, you can see if your relationship still has a chance.
Which finally leads us back to the popcorn ceiling. You were terribly bored, and the day was almost over; you can see the sun setting through a nearby window. It has been a long, long while since you contacted Olivia as well. You decide to:
