"... wanted ... used ... other!" was all you managed to get out due to your mouth having been squished prior.

Your mother looked slightly confused at first, assuming you were happy to go along with whatever she came up with, but seemed quite content to yield for now. "Alright then Jake, I assume we can always keep that one for later. Which one did you want to go with then? I assume you had something more fun in mind if you are willing to give up our mother and son trip!" your mother said to you with a smile that hid her disappointment to you wanting to change plans.

A new misunderstanding now created, you weighed your options of what to say next, knowing that your overly eager mother was willing to jump to quick conclusions based on what you'd say. Telling her that the coupons were not her real present was an option, but seeing how happy she was you'd feel bad. Additionally you didn't actually have a backup plan and were kind of afraid of how your mother would react if she found out you had originally forgot to get her a present. Backing out being off the table, the only reasonable option was to pick a harmless coupon that you'd be willing to do and then hopefully being able to deal with the rest of the coupons without going through to much hassle.

With your hands you motioned your mother to set you down next to the stack of coupons, not wanting to risk another verbal misunderstanding. "Oh, sure Jake, show me which one you want to pick!" your mom said, for once actually understanding your intentions clearly. Walking over to the stack, you noticed just how big it was... You had really outdone yourself this time.

Looking at the first coupon on the stack you saw "Laundry" and immediately ruled that one out. "I don't want to be used as a piece of clothing if I can avoid it" you mumbled too quiet for your mother to hear. The next one read "Foot Massage", which despite it being something you really didn't enjoy doing, wasn't even close to the worst thing you could think of, though you still ruled it out so far. The next couple of them seemed to get progressively worse, ranging from "A snack for mom", "One hour help with whatever you need", "Toilet cleaning duty for a week", etc.. You were starting to curse your snap judgement that lead to this present. Whatever punishment your mom came up with may have not been so bad after all...

"Do you need help looking for the one you had in mind Jake? I thought you had a better one already in mind?" your mom asked, getting slightly impatient with you just flipping through the coupons instead of presenting your, in her expectations, amazing combination.

"Eh ... nah mom, I'm looking for it but I can't seem to find it right now." you stammered slightly startled. "Well I sure hope it's worth the wait. I just hope you aren't trying to back down now, after getting my hopes up so high" your mom answered, with a slight frown on her face.

This seemingly display caused you to shudder, feeling like you've talked yourself into even more of a corner yet again. Getting anxious you decide to just make a snap decision and ...

1.) pick the foot massage coupon since it was the only reasonable one you saw so far and you did not want to test your luck. Your mom however expected you to pick two and picks another one of her own accord to accommodate yours.
2.) Fess up that you actually never checked the coupons and that they were a last minute idea. Your mom is mad and decides to go through with the coupons anyways, now intentionally misinterpreting them as a punishment.
3.) pick some coupon(s) at random (Writer's Choice or additional options)
