Just as Cassie's fingers brushed against you, about to grab the cushion material, she saw it twitch, jerking away from her grasp. She blinked in confusion before going to grab again, before another, weaker twitch shuffled it away. She paused, staring down at you for a few moments, threaded needle in one hand. All of a sudden, you saw recognition spark in her eyes as they grew wide. Her mouth opened in a gasp, her free hand shooting to cover her mouth and she muttered a worried,
"...Jake?" She asked, looking down at you. In response you used what remaining strength you had to twitch once more and she gulped.
"Oh my god, how did you slip my mind? I am so sorry... Oh no... I sewed you down! you were the cushion cover this whole time? This whole time?" She said, her voice getting frantic as she put the needle down on the desk and began trying to work the rest of the threads holding you into place free.
You were so happy your fiance had finally discovered you. No more would you be required to stare up as she and her family sat down on you for hours on end. It took about 20 minutes to get all the remaining thread free from you. Cassie was being careful as she didn't want to hurt you, realizing how many times she had put the needle through you a month ago. Unfortunately, she didn't spot the thread that kept your invisible mouth shut at the moment, but she gently laid your flat, butt imprinted body on her mother's desk, nervously looking down at you.
"Oh, you have really taken a long beating, haven't you. I am so sorry Jake, you must hate me right now" She exclaimed with tears in her eyes. Of course, you could never hate Cassie, it wasn't her fault. You were just looking forward to explaining that to her when you reformed. She gently stroked your flat form with her fingertips and looked you over, seeing the slight discolouration, the butt imprint in your mostly flat shape. She was realising how much punishment you had taken under her entire family the previous month, as well as how long it would likely take you to reform from this.
Suddenly, Kimberly walked past with a basket of dirty laundry. She saw her daughter bending over her desk, looking nervously at an indented tan sheet and realised you were loose from the chair. Hiding her disappointment, she walked in with a cheerful smile.
"Hello sweetie, has that cushion cover come loose again?" She asked in a cheery tone, reaching over for you casually.
"I will chuck it in the wash for a clean before you stitch it back" She offered, but Cassie let out a yelp and quickly yanked you away, hugging you to her chest.
"NO!" She cried, before blushing and biting her lip nervously.
"It's um. It's not a cushion cover Mom. Its..." She trailed off, embarrassed at how she had left you trapped so long like this, but she had to tell her mother who looked stunned at her daughter's reaction.
"It...its Jake," She said finally, blushing bright red.
"I don't know why he was on the cushion back then but...I didn't know it was him, I stitched my own fiance down to a chair cushion...if the stitching hadn't come loose. He might still be there!" She said, tears in her eyes, hugging your flat body against her chest tightly.
Kimberly looked shocked, faking the reaction that she had no idea as she looked at the tan sheet of fabric.
"That is Jake? are you sure? I don't see any visible features on it" She said, glancing him over, knowing full well his features have long since been smeared to near invisibility. Cassie nodded.
"Yeah, when I reached for him, he twitched away!" She explained, Kimberly raised an eyebrow and pointed to the open window.
"Are you sure it wasn't just caught in a breeze?" She offered as an explanation. Cassie's head turned to see the open window and paused, before glancing down at the flat thing in her arms. You saw a faint flicker of doubt in her eyes before shaking her head.
"No, watch!" She said, closing the window and then laying you down on the desk.
"Ok, Jake, show Mom it's you!" She said eagerly. You groaned mentally, your body exhausted. You tried to twitch, but whatever movement you managed was too small for the women, staring directly at you, to spot.
"Jake, come on!" Cassie pleaded, seeing you remain motionless. In her mind, she had seen you move before, so why wouldn't you move now. Not realising how exhausting that previous action had been for you right now.
In her head, Kimberly fought to suppress a smirk. She could see the growing doubt on her daughters face. Your inability to prove sentience now the window was shut was letting Cassie begin to wonder if she had jumped to the wrong conclusion. With a sigh, Kimberly looked up at her daughter.
"Well, I think that answers that sweetheart. If it was him, he would have moved by now!" She said with a shrug.
"I'm sure he is around somewhere, but that's clearly just a bit of fabric. I'll pop it in the wash, you can stitch it back in place and then we can try to find where Jake wandered off to, ok?" She offered, holding out her hand for Cassie to pick you up and pass to her. She was letting it be Cassie's choice. She could see her biting her lip, trying to think. She had remembered you, which means she remembered you had been missing all month. This fabric had been stitched down for a month, so it was still possible. But if it was you, why were you not moving now the window was shut and there was no breeze. Could it all be a coincidence?
After a few nervous seconds as you stared helplessly up at the women, Cassie made her decision...
