“So, what brings you here Tom?”
Her pretty face looked down at you optimistically. To be honest, you were a bit worried about what would happen if you told Amy the truth. She tends to overreact to things, and it’s not as though she would learn from her mistake anyway. Heck, she might just drop you out in the middle of the hallway like she did to Cliff! You didn’t want to make her sad either. Amy wasn’t a bad girl at heart, it was just very hard to deal with her in a way that didn’t end up with her either squishing or forgetting about you.
Fortunately, after all the experiences you’ve had with her, you’ve developed insight on how to safely get out of a situation like this. You’d have to hang out with her long enough for her to get either tired or bored, then leave by yourself. You felt a bit bad having to create contingencies for someone that you would preferably like to call a friend, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
“Well, I was just wondering if you’d like to hang out? I thought you did a, uh, really good job with the protest earlier, and felt really inspired by it!”
Amy looked at you with a blank face for a moment, looking as though she forgot about the protest. You waited in anticipation, hoping she wouldn’t see through your lie. Then, as if a lightbulb went off in her brain, she began beaming with excitement.
“I’m so glad to hear that! I didn’t think anyone else here shared the same determination as I did, but you coming here helped me make up my mind!”
Amy looked incredibly determined at the moment, which combined with what she was saying made you think you might have praised her a little too much. She quickly bent down and brought her hands under you, scooping your tiny body up. You stumbled a bit and fell onto your butt as she stood up and brought you level with her face. Needless to say, you were a bit intimidated at the moment.
“You’ve come to almost every protest of mine, and you even came to me personally to express how much you believe in the cause.”
You weren’t too sure where the last part came from, as all you did was say she did a good job.
“For that, I'm making you my honorary second-in-command!”
Well, that was the last thing you expected her to say. Judging by her face, she was completely serious. Out of all the contingencies you had, none of them were prepared for a statement like this.
“Um, what does that mean?”
“Essentially, you’ll be my partner in crime! We can hold protests together, celebrations together, recruitments together, live together, and research together!”
Unless your ears deceived you, one of those things was not like the other. Did she say… live together? Now normally you wouldn’t mind living with such a beauty, but this was Amy. Plus, you’d feel bad to just up and leave Chelsea for no good reason.
“W-well, I don’t know…”
“No need to feel so humble, you deserve this! It’ll be so fun to room with someone who meshes so well with me!”
At this point you didn’t feel like you could reject her. Seems as though she decided your answer before she even asked. Hopefully you'll be able to apologize to Chelsea later…
“G-glad to be your new partner. Though won’t it take some time for me to move into a new box?”
You might still have a way out of this! If she drops you back off at your dorm you can make some sort of excuse that the administration wouldn’t let-
“Don’t worry, I can help you move now!”
Well, there goes that plan.
With that, Amy left her dorm room with you giving her directions from the middle of her cupped hands. As her hands rocked with each step, you considered the situation. Maybe this was actually for the best? I mean, if stuck around her long enough, surely she’d become more aware of your presence, right? Who knows, it could actually be fun to dorm with Amy!
Soon enough, you reached your destination. You motioned down to the small white cube sitting on the floor, indicating that was your room. Moving you into one of her hands, she used the other to pick up what you essentially considered your home. Seeing your dorm room in the palm of her hand really put into perspective just how big the size difference was.
“I can’t believe you guys have to live in these! Better housing is definitely something I'll have to add to my agenda…”
All things considered, it was actually quite spacious. For a normal sized room of the same size, the cost would easily be on the same scale as a luxury apartment. But for a tiny, it was all insured by the government. Turns out building what’s essentially a realistic toy room is pretty cheap.
“I mean, I don’t really mind that much Amy.”
“Don’t worry Tom, my room is going to be much nicer than this cramped little box!”
In typical Amy fashion, she over-exaggerated how bad it actually was. But, maybe she’d be right. You haven’t lived in a normal sized room in ages after all.
After a few more minutes of walking, you returned to her dorm room and she placed you and your room onto her desk.
“I have a short cooking class I need to go to, so I'll let you make yourself comfortable here!”
With a giggle and a wave, Amy left the room and closed the door. What a situation you got yourself into, huh? What started as a simple protest turned into an escape plan, and now you were Amy’s roommate. You hope that wherever Cliff was, he ended up better than you did.
Stepping into your room, you noticed that most of your stuff was still intact, despite all the shaking it endured. Well, she did say to make yourself comfortable, so maybe it’d be best to take a look around while she was still gone. Stepping back onto the desk, you took a look around. She wasn’t wrong, it was definitely more spacious than your old room.
On the walls you noticed some posters, some related to tiny activism but also unrelated things like bands and cats. It also looked like she went for one of the upper-level dorm rooms, as you noticed a small hallway past the desk leading to a small cooking area and a private bathroom. A strange choice to have your bedroom be at the entrance, but you’ve seen weirder.
Her bed was unmade, with several articles of clothing strewn about. In fact, you even noticed the pants that got you into this situation. Considering you found Cliff by chance in one of her shoes, you wouldn’t be surprised if there were any other tiny stowaways here.
Although she said to make yourself at home, you couldn’t really go past the confines of her desk. Jumping from this height was definitely a bad idea, and she didn’t have any tiny transport equipment either.
Her chair would probably be soft enough to land on, but knowing your luck, you know exactly what would happen if you found yourself there. Draped over the other side of the desk was a towel that went down to the floor, but climbing down meant taking the risk of traversing the entire floor. You also noticed that her laptop was both open and on. Technology wasn’t advanced enough to make laptops for people of your size, so you were definitely interested in trying one out for the first time in ages. Then again you could just sleep in your room until Amy came back…
