Hope frowned: "The Piper? Whose school mascot is the Piper?"
"Walter Scott Middle School, ma'am," replied Phil, still hypnotized: "The sports teams are called 'the Highlanders.'"
Hope half-smiled: "And, was that where you went to junior high?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Well, that was a very cute routine. But, now I want you to do the fight song for THIS school! Where the team mascot is a BEAR! Do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Then, please go ahead."
So, Phil started jumping around, while singing:
"Bears are mighty creatures of forest and field.
Tall and strong, they don't eas'ly yield.
If you meet one, run the other way.
Because the Bears will most likely rule, this day."
Hope had him do three encores, with the rest of girls in the health class clapping in time. And, after each encore, they laughed and cheered what he had done. Unfortunately, for their teacher, they had become so engrossed in Phil's performances that they had lost all track of time!
So, while she described that night's homework assignment, just before the bell, Phil was told to close his eyes and go back to sleep. Without waking up until Hope told him to! Then, she smiled, as she put in her left jacket pocket before heading off to...
