Mrs. Bermine looks back into the sock "Phil? Is this true?"
The boy looks up at his mother's huge face and frantically begins to answer. "Yes bu..."
Upon hearing his answer Mrs. Bermine frowned. "Philip, I thought I tought you better than that. I came to check on you and I find that you've already gotten into trouble!"
Then turning to Kendra she said, "I'm sorry my dear. I want no special treatment for my son. Carry on I suppose."
With that she handed the sock back to the girl and turned to leave. Becky stood glued where she stood, but a sharp tug on her arm by Mrs. Bermine pulled Phil's older sister away. She glanced back jealously at Kendra holding his younger brother captive in her sock several times.
When the Bermine women had vanished around the corner....
