Someone was watching as Phil's mother and sister turned against him. And seeing this made him absolutely sick. He existed between worlds, the physical reality of Phil's world, and the metaphysical spiritual plane unseen by mere mortals. His body was made up of a glowing blue light in the shape of a man. He glared as he listened to these two women turn on the boy like this. He saw Becky lift Phil out of her mother's boot - his body limp and unconscious.
He saw her take a necklace chain in her hands. She tied what amounted to a small noose at the end of it. She then put it around her neck before taking Phil. She slipped it around her tiny brother's throat and gave it a tug. Phil suddenly sprang to life as his hands reached for the chain. His fingers slid between it and his neck, giving his windpipe room to breathe.
The being growled clenching his fists as he watched this farce happen.
"This will NOT do!" he said.

A young man suddenly appeared in the living room between Becky and Phil's mother. They startled when they saw him. He seemed to be no older then seventeen. He had an unshaven beard, brown hair, hazel green eyes. He wore a black blazer over a grey t-shirt and a matching black fedora. His pants were simple jeans and he wore tennis shoes. He had a pair of box-glasses; the half-rims were deep red. He glared at Becky behind them. There was not much else to him other than he was leaning on a brown cane at his right side.
"Who the Hell are you?" the mother asked. "What do you think you're doing in my House?"
"What the Fuck do you think you're doing?" he asked them both. "Do you not realize that that is your son and brother you just stomped all over. The one that this little whore has dangling around her neck? What the Fuck is wrong with you, you Bints?! What kind of sick fuck allows this to happen to her children?!"
"Get out of my house now, or I will call the police," Phil's mother said.
"You're not going to call the Cops," the boy told her. "Otherwise you'd have done it by now. As sick and depraved you, those brats at school, and those crazy teachers, I doubt the police are as depraved as you. They wouldn't take kindly to what you've been doing to the boy."
Phil in the meanwhile continued to watch as this guy just came out of nowhere and started scolding his mom and sister. This seemed to be the first legitimate ray of light he'd seen in days. The first time someone was being called out for what they did to him. He still struggled to get a good breath. Suddenly the cane at the boy's side was lifted and the rubber tip at the end was inches away from the right side of Becky's chin.
"You tried to turn your own brother into a slave?" he asked her. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you now."
That was all Phil's mother needed to hear. She immediately rushed for the phone on the end table near the couch. But as she picked up the phone, the young man twirled the cane away from Becky's face and pointed it toward her. Suddenly a blue energy ball shot from the stopper at the end of the cane and destroyed the receiver before she could dial 9-1-1.
"We're sorry...the number you are using has been disconnected," he said as he pointed the cane at her now. Becky in the meanwhile went for her own cellphone already dialing 9-1-1. But when she put the phone to her ear, all she heard was static. She looked at her phone; the signal bars were fluctuating between full bars to none, until they completely disappeared. "Your house just became the Area's number one dead-zone. We won't have any...rude interruptions for the rest of the night."
Becky and Ms. Bemine were shocked by what they saw. Phil couldn't help but be awed by it. He didn't know whether to be excited or terrified. Seeing what this guy just did to a phone, there's no limit to the damage that he could do to him. Although, so far he seemed to be acting in Phil's defense, Phil thought he could trust so many people lately only to have them turn on him. Who knows what this guy was up to?
"If you'd be so kind," he said referring to Becky. "Gently remove the boy from the chain, and set him down on that table." Becky slowly did as he ordered and set Phil down as gently as she could. Phil watched as the young man stared at his mother.
"What are you?" she asked him.
"...I am he who has watched this world since the first lifeforms were soup in a pond," he said. "I have observed every era of human kind. And I find an interesting anomaly...The more civilized a nation or people claim to be...the more hypocritical their practices are. I saw the Jews in Egypt, the oppression of the Persian Empire, the trading of African Slaves in the Americas. When a society deems themselves the pinnacle of civilization, all other nations and their people become inferior...But instead of sharing their collective wisdom in an attempt at world peace...the so called Civilized people barbarically enslave all others in the pursuit of land or cheap labor...or maybe just for the sake of feeling superior. And that last one...makes me sickest to my heart; should I have one. I was close to interfering; the scale of which would nearly decimate mankind on a global scale. But just when I thought human cruelty had met its height, America changed. Transformed into the country it was meant to be and slavery and the mistreatment of others began to die out. And yet you have the nerve to act so shamefully to your own son because he is smaller and weaker than you...You speak of being superior - of being civilized...and yet you act like an animal."
Suddenly he brought the cane up and pressed the length of the pole against her throat, pinning her to the wall. "I'm not the only one of my kind; my brothers and sisters thought the same way you do about Phil...Only we made all of mankind into our play things from time to time. And for our crimes...we were all punished. Imprisoned - trapped in inescapable forms; the form of those we thought were inferior. And it taught us temperance. So...How would you and your daughter like to spend the rest of your miserable days as Rats, huh? Or maybe...cockroaches; no I can be more creative. Oh I got it...how about...a beautiful Butterfly? You could fly around with your beautiful colors until you get caught in someone's net; be it a kid wanting to rip your wings off, or someone to stick a pin through you and display you behind plate glass. That should put you into some perspective about what you've done to your own goddamn Son!" He then tightened his grip on her throat. "Or should I just kill you now?"
He saw her take a necklace chain in her hands. She tied what amounted to a small noose at the end of it. She then put it around her neck before taking Phil.
