Her Dad looked at her as if she was hiding something. "Anyway I almost forgot to tell you, but your mother and I are going out for a while." Kristin was excited when she heard this and asked, "Really? Where to? How long?" Her dad sighed and replied
"We'll be gone for the week actually. They told us that we should spend some time alone. Time away from work and the kids. It's supposed to keep our relationship strong." Kristin, while very excited about the news, was mad about one thing. "Why didn't you tell us earlier?" Her father scratched his chin and said, "Guess it just slipped our minds." He said and then laughed. Kristin simply rolled her eyes at how absent minded her father was. "Anyway, we'll be trusting you to keep the house in order and watch over your little sister." "Don't worry, Shelly will be fine." Kristin replied.
After another hour of explanations and farwells, Kristin's parents left. Now Phil was alone in this house with Kristin and her 8 year old sister, Shelly.
"Kristin, where is mom and dad going?" her sister asked. "They're going to be doing grown up stuff for a week so we get the house to ourselves." Kristin answered. "And speaking of which. Look what Becky let me borrow." Kristin then removed her sandel and Shelly looked in shock at the tiny figure gasping for air and tears leaving tiny trails in his very dirty face.
"Is he.... real?" "Yes." Kristin replied, "He's Beckey's 'little' brother. I'm going to call her to see if we can keep him longer. Why don't you play with him while I do that."
Is Shelly nice or cruel to Phil?
