Phil lands harshly in a bush, the hedges in someone’s yard. Phil tries one last shout towards the woman but to no avail. As she walks by, he reassesses his strategy.
He could climb down and try to get someone else’s help or try to start the long, laborious walk back to his house. It’s evening and starting to get dark. He’s a few feet up in the bush, which protects him against most land-dwelling bugs, his biggest nighttime threat in his experience. If he walks around either find someone or go home, he’d be risking falling to their prey. Talking with others can be risky, if they don’t want to help, and the distance home (which is likely miles by normal human standards) could take him at least 10-12 hours. At the same time, waiting always has its risks.
He considers his three options. Which does he choose?
