Phil stood on the table, waiting for Karen. The girl continued doing her school work, leaving Phil to himself, for now. The boy realized that he could probably run, but Karen might notice, and then she'd be mad. It was best not to anger her, and hope that at some point he could get Ms. Prittey's attention; she would probably rescue him.
Finally, the bell rang, and Karen gathered up her things. She looked over at Phil and said "come on bug, it's off to our next class." She grabbed Phil with her hand and took him with her in the hallway. As she walked, she heard someone call out "Karen." She turned around to see Ms. Prittey standing there. The teacher walked over and grabbed Karen's hand. "I knew you had him," she said, and wrenched Phil away from her. "Kidnapping will not be tolerated," she said, and handed Karen a detention slip.
Karen walked away sulking, and Ms. Prittey held Phil up. "Are you okay," she asked. Phil nodded, and thanked the teacher for saving him. Ms. Prittey smiled, and took Phil to his next class with Ms. Lockhart. She placed him on Ms. Lockhart's desk and explained the situation to Phil's new teacher.
Ms. Lockhart began her teaching. During the class.........
