The Other Buried Secret of Rogueport VG Shrink chapter 6 by copier · original author: olimarnite

Goombella sat at a desk in the Rogueport Inn, staring at her ever-present textbook. In the three days since Mario and Peach had returned from the Mushroom Kingdom, she had been feverishly searching for any information that might lead them to the new treasure that Peach had heard about. Since then, the book had been unhelpful in revealing information, but at last, she came across a passage that described something new. She hopped excitedly off her chair and rushed out the door, turning toward Prof. Frankly's house. She knocked on the door and waited for the professor's answer.
"...Hurry it up, Professor..." she muttered after a few seconds had passed. Finally, the door began to open, and before it had even fully opened, she pushed inside. Mario and Peach were sitting at the table, and turned to greet her. Peach had just opened her mouth to speak when Goombella interrupted her.
"I know, I'm here. That's not important right now. Take a look at this!" she exclaimed, slamming the textbook onto the table. Peach and Mario leaned over it to read. After several moments, Peach spoke up.
"So, this hidden tunnel is just next to the site of the Thousand-Year Door?"
"Yep!" Goombella answered. "There's a seal holding it closed that nobody's ever been able to open before, but I'd bet we can do it!" Peach smiled and stood up.
"Well, there's no sense wasting time here, then. Let's get going." She walked over to and out the door, followed by Mario, Goombella, and Frankly.

Several minutes later, the group arrived at the huge room that contained the Thousand-Year Door.
"It should be somewhere around here..." Goombella said, moving along the wall.
"Really, now. How are you going to know if you've found it?" Frankly asked. Goombella ignored him and continued to press along the wall.
"There's a huge crack in the wall here, but it buts off around....here! Aha!" she stopped and stepped back from the wall. "When we opened the Door, the cracks must have broken the seal!"
"That's perfect!" Peach said, joining Goombella next to the cracked area.
"Mario, give us a hand with this!" Goombella called. Mario rushed over, Hammer in hand. Leaning back, he took a massive swing a the wall.

With a resounding CRACK,/i} the wall caved in. Goombella began to hop on the spot.
"Yes! I knew we could find it!" she yelled happily. The group walked into the newly-created doorway, and looked around. They were in a short tunnel that let off into a small atrium. In the centre of the room, there was a large chest.
"Fascinating!" Frankly said, rushing over to inspect it.
"That was easier to find than I expected." Peach said, smiling.
"Well, Mario? Let's get this thing open!" Goombella yelled, dragging Mario toward the chest.
"Stand-a back." Mario said to Frankly and Peach, grabbing the edge of the lid. He pulled on the lid and with a loud creak, the chest opened.

For a moment, nothing happened. Mario leaned over to inspect the inside, and Goombella hopped onto the rim to do the same. Suddenly, a blinding flash filled the room, and a powerful force pushed everyone in the room over, unconscious.
