Hope let out a gasp at the sight of his immense female companion. He knew he had shrunken but to see one of his friends tower over him so was more than unsettling. Above him Fang loomed like a true giantess, seemingly even bigger than the fal’Cie Titan. Before him her left foot was an enormous mountain in itself. To give a good idea of how small he was, roughly ten feet overhead the sole of Fang’s sandal ended and then there were her toes. It was difficult to put a number on it but by his estimate Hope was about a fifth the size of Fang’s big toe, which meant roughly a fifth of an inch give or take. That was not good. Fang may have unknowingly saved him but that meant nothing if he was going to get crushed under her like a bug.
Unsure of what to do Hope did a quick jump to get atop Fang’s sandal, where the looming toes of the woman impatiently drummed. He had to be careful; those very toes could very well crush Hope without Fang ever noticing. Though the woman’s appearance begged the question. What was she doing there? It was Hope’s turn to stand watch. Overhead the woman let out a careless yawn, “Where is the little bugger?” Her head swayed side-to-side scanning for signs of Hope.
She has no idea how accurate that name is. The young man bitterly thought. Amidst the dangerous situation he took the time to stare at the brand on his hand. It no longer had any weird glow to it but Hope still didn’t feel safe using any magic. So if he wanted to get Fang’s attention he would to do it without any aid from his powers. Considering his time on Pulse this would be a lot easier. Battles against the wild had made Hope stronger than he could have ever imagined. The young man looked to the gigantic toes before him wondering how to get Fang’s attention.
Maybe just see if I can hit it or something…? Hope took a couple steps forward before the massive appendage of Fang’s big toe drummed along her sandal once again. Hope let out a brief shout before leaping back, narrowly dodging getting hit. “Okay, let’s try something else…” The young l’Cie reached for the boomerang in his back pocket. It seemed small but if he put enough force into it maybe even this could catch Fang’s attention. Hope prepared to throw his weapon when it happened.
“It looks like he left.” Fang mumbled under her breath. In a single motion she raised her foot and turned around to begin walking, totally unaware of what such a simple action caused.
To the tiny l’Cie he brought his hand back to throw his boomerang. But the moment he started to bring it forward the ground shifted, adjusting a slight angle and rising up high into the air. Hope managed to keep his footing but it threw him off just enough that his boomerang was off course. It completely missed Fang, which was horrid luck considering how big she was. Then Fang brought her foot forward in a basic stepping motion. To someone of Hope’s stature this created a strong wind pressure that pushed his further into Fang’s sandal. He finally lost his footing and slid, to his dismay, right between Fang’s big and second toes. “Ugh” Hope landed face-first in the toe cleavage and grimaced. He had to escape otherwise he could end up underneath Fang’s foot.
BOOM
The roaring sound of the titanic foot making contact with the ground was deafening. But worse than that it reminded Hope that all his troubles had only been over a single step. There was still a long way to go. Sure enough, soon the vertigo of rising rapidly through the air made the young man feel slightly queasy. Simultaneously he was moving forward at a speed fast enough to push him deeper into the crevice between Fang’s toes. Hope wanted to gag when he felt a sticky liquid begin to soak into his clothes: foot sweat.
BOOM
Hope cringed at the sound in his ears, awaiting the next step. But it didn’t come, Fang stopped. The l’Cie used the chance to free himself from his spot between the woman’s toes; though he wondered why Fang suddenly stopped. From both sides he heard the movement of her massive toes. For a brief moment Hope wondered what was going on, then it hit him, literally. Hope felt himself being surrounded on all sides. In the moment before being surrounded he saw Fang’s toes completely surround him, eventually blotting out the little light left. Hope winced as Fang’s toes grinded him between them. If he had to guess the woman probably felt an itch between her toes and stopped to remedy it. That’s all Hope was to her right now, an annoying itch.
Crack. Hope cried out as he head his shoulder bones let out a sickening crack sound. If it didn’t stop soon Fang’s toes were literally going to grind him to dust. But what could he do? The little l’Cie was unable to move, his body was being contorted and toyed with by the large toes surrounding him. His mind turned to the brand on his hand. Magic? But what if it shrunk him further? There was a small feeling of power in his palm, but Hope decided against it. He could ride this out. He knew he could, Lightning was way rougher on him than this. Almost as if they acknowledged his sudden determination, Fang’s toes eased their vice and released Hope. For a brief moment he landed back on Fang’s sandal and chuckled with clear exhaustion. “I may not be the strongest guy around but I can at least live through this.” Hope opened his eyes and instantly widened them. Directly overhead was Fang’s big toe, which wasted no time in landing on top of Hope and completely engulfing him.
Hope tried to struggle against Fang’s toe but the appendage was too big and too strong. Once again he was immobile and sandwiched between two surfaces. Though by comparison, this was much easier than the last one. In fact, as his initial fervor died down, Hope realized he wasn’t actually in all that much pain. Most of Fang’s weight was on her foot and her toes weight alone wasn’t all that bad. All it really did was secure Hope beneath her foot. Considering how easy it would be to fall off as she was walking, this was actually a good thing.
Fang slowly began to walk again and it only proved it to Hope. Little pain and he wasn’t flying around anymore. Sure there was still the foot sweat but after so many minutes the little l’Cie was beginning to adjust to it. He began to notice details about Fang’s feet he had never noticed before. For instance, despite always wearing the same sandals; not only were the sandals in perfect condition, they smelled just fine. Same with Fang’s feet, no foul foot odor. Being on her feet constantly left her sole extremely firm and well built, but still a degree of feminine softness that was oddly appealing. Hope began to appreciate all these little things, especially in the given circumstances.
Minutes began to pass and the l’Cie’s mind wandered to other realizations. What was he going to do? He couldn’t spend the rest of his life on Fang’s sandal. He had to get his friend’s attention. But how?
It was about then the pattern of footsteps stopped and Hope began to feel his position change. Gravity suddenly seemed to be pushing him towards Fang’s foot and it felt as if her sandals were now vertical. Was she laying down? A moment later her foot was on its side, with just enough space for Hope to slide from his place beneath Fang’s toe to the grassy plain below. The young man landed with a soft tap along the dirt, before him he saw the long form of Fang’s body laying against the ground. She was trying to go to sleep. Actually, not even trying. In less than a minute soft snores could be heard coming from her lips.
Similar sounds came from the left, Hope turned to see a pair of familiar boots going at least a mile into the air. He gasped at them, “Lightning!” Sure enough, beside her removed boots Lightning Farron was sleeping. Behind her was probably Vanille. This was their camp for the night. Hope praised his luck; he could get his friends attention with ease!
Though that begged the question. Which friend to try gaining their attention? Vanille was too far away so he was left between Fang and Lightning. Being right beside Fang she seemed like the natural choice, but her general rough and casual disposition made Hope iffy. Lightning on the other hand may have been rough as well, but Hope felt a bit of a natural inclination towards her. She was rough but he and Lightning got along better than most did with her.
Who to choose…
