You resume scratching at Anri's toes, you even rubbed them a bit every now & then.
"Ahhh...
My toes feel so much better!
Thank you Mourt!
Oh!
I completely forgot that the whole reason you're here is to help me with the crystal clone...
How did I do anyways?" Anri asks.
"Well, the skin was a bit on the tight side, but that's basically the easiest thing to fix...
Wanna take another shot at growing me back again?" You ask.
"Sure thing!โฆโจ" Anri used the crystal clone to grow you, with no problem.
"Anri, that was perf-
Huh?!
Anri, I think you grew me taller than I'm supposed to." You said, looking down at her, now being about a head taller than her.
"Oh...
I kinda did that on purpose...
I wanted to see how you'd look like a bit taller." Anri admits.
"Oh...
How do I look?" You ask.
"You look good!" She answers.
"Heheh! Thanks!" You said, blushing.
"Do you think it's too late to go to the market?" Anri asks.
"Depends on what you want." You answer.
"Well, I overheard that there's a popular vendor that in town sells fried dough on sticks or something like that.
You can even choose the toppings for it.
I think they call them "Donuts"...
Quagmire: No, these aren't Brock's "Jelly-filled donuts". These are Sata andagi(A.K.A. Okinawan Doughnuts), but served more like Dango(Dumplings made from rice flours. Usually sweet, but can be savoury, salty) on a skewer, with topping options. Basically a fusion of two popular Japanese desserts, with ingredients easily available to most settings.
Do you think they'll still be up & running?" She asks.
"Let me check." You said, returning to normal, then getting ready to run. Fast.
๐๐จ[Boosting your speed, you zoom out of the room, the inn, and to the marketplace to confirm that the donut stand is still open, seeing a moderate line for it. With that confirmed, you run back to Anri]
"Good news Anri! They're still selling dough-
๐ณOh!" You return to see Anri in nothing but her underwear.
๐ช
"Yeah, when you ran off, a gust of wind came out of nowhere & blew my pajamas off." Anri explains through the door.
"Yeah, that happens... Although I didn't think it'd be strong enough to do that..." You said, facepalming, since you were at fault.
"So, they're still selling doughnuts?" She asks.
"Yeah... They have a pretty decent line, so I don't think they'll close anytime soon." You said.
"Awesome!๐ช Let's go!" Anri barged through the door, still in her underwear.
"Anri! You're still practically naked!" You said.
"Whoops!
I got a little ahead of myself...๐ช" She returned to her room, quickly changes, then exited once again.
"You ready?" You ask.
"Ready!" Anri said.
...
The both of you made your way out of the inn and the down the streets towards the market.
"So... How did you get super fast all of a sudden?" She asks.
"Well... My dad's magic allows him to increase or decrease anything, as long as it's physical in nature.
But my magic allows me to increase or decrease virtually anything. Speed, strength, mana levels, mana regeneration, stamina, durability, intelligence, stuff along those lines...
Unfortunately, I'm not exactly powerful enough to make much of that permanent... At least currently...
But dad says that as I grow older, I'll grow more powerful." You explain.
"Wow! That's super cool & useful!
Is that why Sir Touka was so buff all of a sudden?" Anri asks.
"Exactly why." You confirm.
"So... What else can it do?" She asks.
"Well, it can't exactly heal people, but it can increase one's natural recovery rate.
I could make wounds from the smallest nicks and cuts abundantly worse for my enemies, or deep wounds on me or my allies shallow & minor...
That I can thankfully do more permanently, but it takes some mana out of me...
I could slow the flow of time on select objects or people, or speed it up...
Actually, that might be perfect for Yuna's Meditation Crystal..."
"Wow! You're so cool!...
*Sighs*
I wish I could be of more used to the party..." Anri said.
"Hey! You're better at Necromancy than me...
And we're both still young & growing. Who knows how powerful either of us will be in the future." You try & encourage her.
"That's true...
I doubt I'll ever get as powerful as Lord Diego." Anri said.
"Diego? That genocidal psychopath?
I don't know how Touka did it, but I'm glad he's dead. Permanently." You said.
"You sound like you knew him." She said.
"I... I did...
Three years ago, when the Gates of Hell were open, my dad & I followed behind the other necromancers to the Overworld for asylum...
We did fairly well to blend in with the other humans...
Thankfully, that band of Brigands we ran into had a cutthroat with a trustworthy appearance & a big brute with a full set of Magically Enhanced Plate Armor...
Compared to the dangers of Hell, they were no real threat...
Anyways, we managed to catch up with the other necromancers that crossed over and...
And I saw how our Overworld cousins treated them...
I got so damn angry at them, I...
I snapped...
In my Devil Form, I unleashed my power, lashing out at the humans, making them subdue or cripple their friends & neighbors, trying my best to free the necromancers...
That's when I first met him..." You said
"Diego?" Anri asks.
"No... I met him soon after...
I'm talking about Sion Blandan." You said.
"You met Sir Sion?!" She was caught off guard.
"Not exactly...
I fought him..." You admit
"You-you fought Sir Sion!?" Anri was completely shocked.
"Yeah... That was hands down the hardest fight I've ever been in...
After the chaos I caused, he & his party tracked me down...
I managed to use my Possession Magic to halt his party members, but not him, so we battled in the forest...
He was powerful, disciplined, but a bit on the green side...
I fought with my all...
I didn't want to kill him, but I was sorta losing control...
Although, I've probably had to kill worse things than he'd ever had at that point, he was a force to be reckoned with...
I probably would've been killed several times over, but for some reason, it was like I knew every move he was gonna make, just before he made it...
I think that's why I was able to keep up for so long...
Eventually, he had the upper hand, ready to strike me down as I was failing to maintain my form..." You remember what happened.
...THREE YEARS AGO...
"Finally got you...
*Panting*
Time to end this..." Sion said, with the Legendary Sword in grip.
"๐ฟ Go ahead! Strike me down like those devils in human form you call your people..." You said, desperately trying to heal your wounds, but due to the power of the Legendary Sword & the demonic blood in your veins, the wounds heal at a snail's pace, even with your magic.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" He asks, confused.
"You use my birthplace in a derogatory manner without ever witnessing the true agony we had to endure in there...
Are you truly blind to what they were doing to the necromancers?!
For generations, humans trapped in Hell had to fight for survival in that brutal world...
At the mercy of Devils...
And worse..." You said, showing your True Form.
"You're a Cambion...
According to the legends, you either need the Legendary Sword, the Staff of Merlin, or the blood of a Cambion...
Were you the one to break the seal to the Gates of Hell!?" Sion demanded to know.
"..."
"ANSWER ME!" He demanded.
"Yes...
However... I did not have any intention to unleash the Devil Army of Hell onto the Overworld...
I did it to free my mother's people...
Had I known that their Overworld brethren like you would treat them just as the devils would, I'd instead would have given my life to defend them..." You explain.
"Humans in Hell?... Overworld brethren?" He got more confused.
"Long before our time, when the Gates of Hell were opened by men mad in their pursuit of power, the Armies of Hell stole people from this world...
They took them like livestock, but the harshness of Hell made the survival of human live impossible for more than a few years...
So the devils had the idea of impregnating the human women they caught to birth offspring capable of surviving in Hell." You explain.
"Cambions."
"Yes...
The very first few of my hybrid kind...
They were then made to breed with the other humans of the world, then those spawn with humans again, then again, then again...
From that, the Necromancers came to be.
Eyes of crimson, hair bone white, and hearts of Magic Crystals, the last remnant of their demonic blood, diluted with the blood of pure blood humans." You said.
"So... What happened to the Necromancers in Hell?" He asks.
"The same thing that usually happens to humans...
They would be hunted down for food.
If the population of the necromancers fell too low, they'd make a Cambion, force them to unseal the Gates of Hell, devour & capture the humans of your world, and breed more necromancers for their appetites..." You explain.
"I can't believe that..." Sion backs away.
"All that suffering from the devils, just to suffer more at the hands of the humans...
What was I supposed to do?
๐ข
What would you do in my position?๐ญ" You ask, changing into your Human Form.
*Gasp!*
"You're... You're just a kid..." Sion said, letting his sword hit the ground.
"He's Mourt Rothschild. Son of Lizabethis Lichmound, and Galroth, the Great..." Dad said, entering the scene in his true body.
"A High-Rank Devil?
You must be his father, right?" Sion asks.
"I am.
And unlike the rest of my kind, I love my son, like I loved my late wife." Galroth said.
"A married devil?" He asks.
"A widowed one." Dad corrected.
"SION! WHERE ARE YOU?!" The Legendary Hero's party could be heard in the far distance.
"Mourt.
Could you by us some time so we can talk more?" Galroth asks.
"I'll do my best, Father." You said, getting up.
...
